Seem to remember a sunny July with frequent warm temperatures of 25 and 26C, but no 'real' heat. But it was a relief after the recent run of poor summers.

Yes it was and I think that’s why I liked it so much, I like warm sunny weather but don’t enjoy really hot temperatures like 27°C+. June and July 2014 was much the same I remember, warm/hot and sunny but nothing too unbearable.

June was average, July was glorious and August was quite good.

July had an average daily maxima of 27c in London, which is a good 3 degrees above average. Temperatures were frequently in the high 20's and low 30s.

Temperatures peaked at 34.1c on the 1st of August here.

I think August 2013 was better than August 2018 though.

I think August 2013 was the best August since 2005 in the London area, and possibly the warmest one since 2003. It definitely felt like the sunniest at the time, but that could have been down to how bad the summers and Augusts were between 2006-2012.

2009 had a few good sunny days, but it was mostly a dull cloudy fest.

Augusts 2016 and 2019 were both warmer and sunnier than August 2018. August 2016 was the best since 2003 (admittedly not much of a hurdle).

16 and 19 still had some gloomy days. But there was a decent amount of sunny days. London did seem quite cloudy during last summer, so for that reason it wasn’t great.

2020 seems to be following this pattern.
