This was the late evening storm as it passed over Filey. It was nice enough as it come up from Bridlington, but as it approached the coast, a real nice feeder band developed into it and it really ramp

My view of the Bude cell   Edit:excuse the washing

Very impressive lightning display here in Scotland in the early hours. I am just a amateur photographer but I am pleased with what I managed to capture. Here is a selection of all the best ones I got.

First Radar return just north of Cambridge - lift off likely.

That would have been my target, Cambridge to Peterborough to Kings Lynn

Personally if I was there I would jump on the M1 and head south as its gunna take a while for storms to get to you, that way you can pick off the storm you want, its always better to be north of initiation with storms coming at you

I'm not hopeful for the Eastern half of Essex either. I slept through the slight storm that clipped us this morning which is typical.

However South Easternites, I think there may be a few surprises and I hope we are one of them.

Not really an expert but I'd try Derby if that's as far east as you can go

Almost complete cloud cover now in Stoke. Don't think it will be long, although we may not be the beneficiaries.

Please guys, stop taking photos of a few clouds in a blue sky. It means jack all and clogs up the thread. Only post if you have something meaningful related to *severe weather* (hence the thread name).

Cloud development is expected when you have moisture and heat. It doesn't mean it will necessarily develop into a storm. There are many more variables that need to be considered.
