Ready here in SE17.  Looks like I might have to check the radar before venturing inside for a sleep. Moon looks beautiful tonight, but has a halo tonight. Good sign....

It shouldn't be long before those cells that are developing off the Brest coast start firing up

Watching the Bournemouth webcam. The rubbish blowing up the beach should have indicated to these people that rain is incoming.

I guess not. Considering the mess they've left, not much sympathy.

Previous events (July 2019, June 2018 and June 2014) produced localised cells to fire right along the coast as the main area approached. Outflows and local conditions help massively. East of the IOW, South Downs and Salisbury plain are on my watch at the moment.

I remember last year same happened here in Exeter, was sat out having a beer with my mate At 11pm, he said it won’t thunder as there was nothing on radar, 30 mins later cells fired instantly on the south devon coast and we got a great few storms

Tell you what, this is kind of reminiscent of last year, 23/24th of July isn’t it? Or am I being stupid

23rd July 2019 was a bit more active

Destabilising has just started to occur Barnstaple,  up to Swansea , almost popcorn like rash of activity.  Night cooling now coming to play.

Thinking of setting my alarms. Not too sure what time I should set them for though.

heading home to bed now, wasn’t really worth it to be honest.

Looks like it's just a thundery band of rain with the odd embedded cell at the front and back edge.

Could be more cells behind that come up very early hours but I'm not all that convinced for the south sadly. Others are doing better though further west/north today.
