Sat in the Judge lodgings in York centre, it's gone very dark, windy and it feels like I could be in luck for a storm!

You can even count and work out the distance. A mile from the station.

Which part of Sheffield does this shield actually apply to? Not the part that got golf ball hail last month presumably? And not much of the rest going by this... 1256256149_Screenshot_20200731-192358_SamsungInternet.thumb.jpg.003927233f8d1026cf28f2b6cb4b9ba9.jpg

It is strange but anyone that lives between sheffield and Chesterfield there are certain areas that storms seem to skirt around just to the east or west.

Dying off near York, I've moved slightly further NE just past Goole, turning back and seeing if it's worth getting to N Lincs ahead of that stuff that's just fired up

There's a valley to the west of us and a valley to the east. What storms used to is go down both or either valley and then build over the city centre. It's rare these days they make it past the Dronfield bypass so this year has been good despite there only being one direct hit. However you used to get some good storms. Somewhere on the forums there are some photos from me from a storm which went down the valley to the west of us. Even had a nice gust front to it.

Light rain here and the end of any chance of a direct hit. Only a matter of time until I actually get a good storm.
