This is looking like fun time for me here in Scunthorpe. A load of heavy rain and lightning strikes showing up to my S now and it's heading straight for us. Getting darker outside right now as I typed this

It's heading more towards York/Selby than Scunthorpe

Which part of Sheffield does this shield actually apply to? Not the part that got golf ball hail last month presumably? And not much of the rest going by this... 1256256149_Screenshot_20200731-192358_SamsungInternet.thumb.jpg.003927233f8d1026cf28f2b6cb4b9ba9.jpg

A bit like the one a few weeks ago that looked nailed on for Scunthorpe then ended up moving to the west of us

I actually wasn't far from that and waved it past to the east of me.

Now we got it raining on one side of the house and not the western side.

Well I'm under that pic btw  observed one flash plenty of Thunder and only 2mm of rain.

Just shows how tricky storm forecasting is , IMBY we were just on the western edge of most forecasts and these were with low confidence and yet a big storm goes by and we are too Far East!   This is not an easy sport , and just goes too show that now casting is always best , i reckon most of this storm was outside the Mets yellow warning too .  Still bloody warm outside too !!

Looks good east of Rotherham right now getting stronger.

Was hoping for some action on the storm front, but alas, I feel it's another dismal display for my location

Wonderful skies with lots of accas and what appears to Altocumulus undulatus. Towers building to the SW and to the NE. Sky looks primed and it's very humid. Won't be long now I feel.....

Absolutely black but it's going to miss just to my east I reckon. Can hear the thunder though! 20200731_194109.thumb.jpg.bdd90d2cc5be04520fca9a7dfbef2439.jpg

If we all chip in we could book a long holiday to France, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium for some action next year, simple .

Anyway back on topic, watching some small build ups to the Southwest of Ireland...one can hope but I'm all good after the wee storm we had earlier.

Okay current situation, I'm at Doncaster North Services on the M18, horrendous driving conditions but an absolute barrage of lighting all around me!

Still plenty of shower activity developing so even if you missed out on the big shower heading into Yorkshire right now there's plenty of time for the new cells to build up and move in, especially within the circled areaUntitled.thumb.jpg.00cdd03ee79aff50f03876d467961646.jpg

Nothing here apart from some cumulusdisappointus.

Maybe you should contact the met office and get it registered as an official cloud on thunder days when you have missed out
