Beautiful. I'll be awaiting the arrival of that here then! We just had a small patch of Cirrus Castellanus go over, some nice tiny towers all the way up there.

This is what it looks like now, as it moves north

Good luck

Also this is overhead, very high! With more high level cloud starting to approach from the south.

36C here and still climbing - the gentle breeze that picks up every now and again is immensely warm.

36.8°C at Heathrow, making it the second hottest July day on record & probably the most intense one day heat burst on record too.

You'd hope something would kick off now!

I'm about 20 miles west of Heathrow.  36c here and sky has gone from Mediterranean blue to AcCas and bubbling cumulus

There's a whole train of pretty tall Ac Cas towers heading up to my west towards Oxfordshire

Does anyone know if these 37c temperature readings from Heathrow and Northolt are false?

Nope they're accurate, met office has the same temps.

Wind now veered as expected, now off the sea. Temp nosediving.: 30.7°C to 29.5°C in two minutes. Thank goodness for that. Just like 26th of June

37.8C at Heathrow now. Am I right in saying that 38C is needed to break the cap?

I feel like the heating may have sped up just a bit... And CW said 38c was needed

Storm food has appears above the worthing skies!

Will we get a storm here today? Of course not.

It's not too hot either!

I'm trying to think of the perfect storm food - popcorn? lol

I’m wondering if we are missing the obvious here - that the Acas is going to continue up towards the NE and initiate there.

Southern areas very likely to see nothing I’m afraid

Just south of Stevenage by a couple miles and can start to see building towers in the distance.

Keeping an eye on this area to see if that convection increases as it spreads into the v hot air in place
