Think you (Seaton Carew) got a direct hit from this.

Getting dark here now and the wind is getting up and the echos to the SW are getting stronger. Maybe we will get something here today after all. We had five separate storms yesterday(!), no direct hits and most of the rain evaporated before it hit the ground. All finished off with a lovely light show as it got dark as the last storm of the day moved away northwards, back-building on its SE side did so. We watched each pileus grew, developed a cap, glaciated and generated lightning: it was gorgeous and lovely and warm. Pity it wasn't from my back garden then I could have sat out with a beer and watched the show!

A hot (29°C), sunny but very blowy day here in Prague is now giving way to some very impressive cumulonimbus clouds building and approaching from the W. Hoping for a light show later

Thunder here now: nice little storm approached from the SW and just skirting the town and passing over Hull. Another one to the NW too. Bonus!

Wind went a bit nuts and the rain is very heavy. Some lightning and thunder and a lovely petrichor smell. The skies are very dramatic

Meanwhile, how long before those of us along the south coasts of Dorset and Hampshire are struck from the forum for having nothing to contribute. Now the TOD and COS have fallen, what about us as the new reigning champions of storm nothingness, perhaps the Coastal Region of Absolute Patheticness?

That could be used for more than just storms. Seems lately we've missed out on everything of interest no matter what it is.

Just one CG from a shower as it hit land. See what the next shower does.

Another one from the early hours of Friday. I didn’t realise some cables above were getting in the way of the shot

Better lapse rates, cooler air aloft coming in from the west. Probably aided by ocean effect.

Thought I heard thunder about 20 mins ago. Now confirmation on radar, lightning about 5 miles to my west at that time.

One crack of thunder about 5.00pm in Macclesfield from a moderate shower as it passed up over the hills. Some really torrential showers here today, more so than that one, that didn't produce thunder. Strange!

Meanwhile here in the SE I’m currently scouring the weather models for any sign of another, more successful thundery plume but all to no avail. My bet is that when I’m out of the country for two weeks from the 10th of July (If all goes to plan with the current situation) then Sod’s law the most incredible event will take place that’s my prediction given my luck with storms along with other southerners this year. Additionally, something bizarre that I and some other people have noticed is that big storm events have been taking place on almost the exact same dates each year recently, e.g 27th of may 2017 and 27th of may 2018 both had severe thunderstorms with plume events. Also July 25th 2018 and July 24/25th 2019 both had record breaking temperatures and also storms (albeit last years storm event was much more intense and widespread). So maybe when I get back on the 24th something could be brewing...

Radar is pepping up to my south, won't get any lightning from it though unfortunately.

Huge downpour just now that turned into a very gusty hailstorm. Was expecting lightning any minute but sadly none. Instead, a car alarm across the road went off lol.

Just had a brief torrential downpour here. Only lasted a couple of minutes and as others have said no lightning with it.
