My view of the Bury St Edmunds cell. Looks great:

Can someone explain why the Sheffield/Leeds storm moved west of North instead of NNE? Nice view of it just missing me  2136621838_Screenshot_20200626-171623_SamsungInternet.thumb.jpg.8c847f752479144b67aabb3a47db599b.jpg20200626_171010.thumb.jpg.901f484887b4ff145f1933f6509052ad.jpg

That's our chances reduced now as an ENE onshore breeze has kicked in. Just an hour ago it was 28.1C with a dewpoint of 21.1C and looked so promising but now it has dropped already to 24.6C. Skies are pretty clear over head and to the east. Always annoying how this happens!

Clear skies and cool here, 20° with a strong sea breeze. What’s a storm?

I think it split and built on the western edge looking at the radar. The storms to me seem to be heading more north with a slight NE slide on them.

Few grumbles of thunder just passed here with relatively heavy rain, but soon as it passed humidity has shot up, feeling so damn muggy out there now.. really hard to handle whilst dosed up on pain relief, antibiotics and anti inflammatorys for a major abscess... come on sky.. please brew up an amazing storm here to clear the air.. usually love weather like this but struggling to cope currently

Well I was out in Meersbrook Park to observe the convective weather today, a large storm passed 3-5 miles east of Sheffield and gave frequent thunder, no lightning seen, and some strong winds but very little rain. The rain succeeded in making it about 10x more humid so no real relief there! Seeing some of the large hail would have been fun but then again maybe not since I was outside. Then again, actually yeah it would have been fun.

Absolutely crazy that I can see an anvil in the sky way off to my north east. OK, I do live on a hill, but still incredible when the nearest storm in that direction is up near South Yorkshire.

Edit: Just spotted a little development near Nottingham, more likely to be it...but still impressed!

This is the same cell that has pushed through central parts of East Anglia, just clipper Peterborough and should be moving into Eastern Lincolnshire now.

sat in our east facing garden watching the darkness over that way hoping to spot something but sadl just the odd distant rumble.

3 miles south of spalding centre here and a little shower passed overhead and seems to have electrified just several miles north! just my luck really

What a complete let down here. Everything initiated further N...GFS was spot on.

Hate it when you suffer such heat and get no pay off for it.

I’ve been watching this as it crossed the channel. On satellite it’s still elevated, and I waited to see if my theory was correct. As soon as it makes landfall at Brighton it reintensfies, wouldn’t surprise me if it becomes electric, and progresses up into Home Counties. Because I’m in NE London and it’s still sweltering and really sticky. Also worth to note there is some high level instability in the area. Although also worth to note there is a doomed hazy cloud forming on south coast as we speak, at least it’s in the evening and not in the afternoon !
