Some pretty beefy clouds off to the West.

Wouldn’t be too surprised to see something appear on radar over East London at some point soon...

Sitting tight at the moment, still at home, 28c here with hazy blue skies.

Car is ready for a blast up the M18 towards the Humber

So in summary I live in Chelmsford,  if I want to see a good storm later on where should I head?

Paul S is the main man, but if I were you I'd head north, maybe western parts of Norfolk looks a good bet and keep a close eye on the radar

Trying to catch up this morning after being hit by a fruit fly invasion here in tropical Reigate.

All we had was a bit of rain over which the missus woke me up at 6:00am and offered a cup of tea.

6:00  a  m

Looks like we're still bust (as predicted last night) here in the SE unless that cloudless blue sky can produce something.

Some good stuff up north. Enjoy everyone!

Its gunna be close Sarah, if you look on Sat24 and zoom into Uk and Ireland you are right on where the convection is developing and its gunna race away to the North and East. Hope something can fire further to your south and west

Yeah there’s some nice clouds about so I’m hoping and praying lol. It’s very very hot and humid. Almost unbearable. I’m in Wrexham and was right on the edge of “severe zone” when I looked this morning. Fingers crossed

Yep great Advice, from Chelmsford would head west towards Stanstead then North towards Cambridge, then take the A11 towards Kings Lynn and you wont go far wrong, or stay on the M11 Then the A14 and then A1 towards Peterborough. Same deal just head North

Yh the Meto charts and UKV are abysmal today. The UKV Frame at 2pm shows widespread storms, it really is garbage in these set-ups

Patience is the key and there is no reason it should not fire

Little Capping further north, engaging trough, cloud has dispersed - Cant really see why anything would not pop, one thing to watch near the Lincs coast would be sea breeze convergence as well around the Hull area and north of the Wash which is becoming apparant as well

The clouds are slowing thickening, the barometric pressure is 1005/4 and the temperature is around 25 Celsius.  Here are some examples of the cirrus clouds as seen from my front and back garden.

Looking north from my location I can see tower in the distance going up

I wonder whether the cold front coming east could pop off a few little mid level showers in the south? Some quite nice and pokey Ac Cas overhead currently.

Although I'm in a good position for Kent clipper imports we miss out on homegrowns more often than not which is a shame.

I can't think of the last time I saw a storm develop in situ overhead. We don't really get to see it all the ingredients rise and bubble and the anticipation that goes with it.

Our meteorological meals just get delivered pre cooked from elsewhere. Shame really
