Chelmsford... Wind got up about 30 minutes ago now the rain has started, sky is very dark I am hopeful!!!

Well looks like this strange Catherine wheel storm has finally made it here. Not doing much though, a few rumbles.

I put my alarm on for 3 having seen what was leaving France die out but thought it may be worth checking back. Woke and looked at the radar and was surprised to see some activity 20km off the coast so I shot out of bed and crossed the road to the seafront.

Was a decent hour or so under what was about 3 rumbles per minute in Hastings. Some very heavy rain at times. Mostly C-C but a few C-G too. Some pretty close I felt and made me jump!

Got about an hour of footage from phone and DSLR. Will look back later maybe. Couple of hours kip before 9am client!

Nice bright flash followed by another lovely deep rumble then...

I’ll admit it’s been so long since I last had a properly overhead storm that it took me a few seconds to realise what was going on when I woke up

I'm saying farewell to the storm noticed a low base and when it was approaching it was the scariest cloud i have ever seen with multicoloured lightning to cap it off as well

Well that was a pathetic end to the heatwave. 

Nothing. Not even a flash, a rumble, not even any proper rain. 

2020 sucks

What a storm! Multiple overhead strikes with plenty of thunder. Massive downpour. Don't normally get that here with storms mind you!

Presume you are in Chelmsford area then? Nothing since that though.....

I’m down in Benfleet.

It’s slowed a lot here too, I think the main core of the storm is moving up the sea to the East of Southend

Big Old Storm just out to my east over Herne Bay way running up the coast but still getting the thunder from it

Skies nice and clear to the south, as soon as we get that surface heating the better, things seem quite ahead of schedule which can only be good?

still very humid so I guess still a chance through the day . 

 

Really happy for those who did get storms and for those that normally miss them but didn't miss this time I'm really happy for . 

 

Cant beat a good storm for Adrenalin rush .

Just got in from a great chase between Hastings - Dungeness. Started along Hastings seafront watching distant cg's out to sea and headed east as new cells fired on the eastern side. Some wonderfully vivid blue bolts as I drove eastwards before stopping at Dungeness where I heard what I believe was hail roar for the first time! As the cell hit hail 1-1.5cm bounced around me with close cg's and booming thunder. Some awesome skies around this morning, the colours and textures were incredible.

Basically got one big flash and rumble and that was it. Nothing on forecast for Chelmsford now either, disappointed!
