Looking at the rain intensity that is showing to hit Bournemouth area in 45 mins surely activity will pick as it approaches land again?

Previous events (July 2019, June 2018 and June 2014) produced localised cells to fire right along the coast as the main area approached. Outflows and local conditions help massively. East of the IOW, South Downs and Salisbury plain are on my watch at the moment.

The state of that beach, do people never learn to pick up after themselves?

I’m from Bournemouth so get updates from my brother on how the bastards are leaving litter in the beach each time it’s hot. What’s the matter with people

Lightning behind Graham souness who lives down at sandbanks that is pointing towards Isle of Wight - just a shame Liverpool won the league

Souness producing lightning from his head, he must be happy that Liverpool won the title

My back garden looks to the north west towards north wales coast area (Rhyl is about 30 miles from us). Could this be the back end of the storm over the coast area that then stretches towards the IOM? I can’t see any lightning from it but this is seriously impressive if it is said cloud!!

It pushing north east. Instability in the atmosphere is on it's way for Central / East Anglia. Could be a interesting night for these areas.

Tell you what, this is kind of reminiscent of last year, 23/24th of July isn’t it? Or am I being stupid

I was going to say the same! Satellite image at the moment looks almost identical to that event last year.

Ok thanks - I was just focusing on the western edge expanding a bit as I’m in Gloucestershire!
