Doesn't matter if there area highlighted has a cap. Any storms tonight spawning over the English Channel will form above the boundary layer and as a result will be elevated. Lack of AcCas may be as a result of limited moisture. GFS showing PWAT values to significantly increase midnight into the early hours. The storms on the picture you have posted coincides with the high PWAT values.

what direction is the pwat values moving in?

I’ve seen some good cloudscapes before but this is by far the best. Ready to go boom.

Indeed. You can see that it wants to do something. It certainly looks unstable in that direction. The setting sun highlights it quite well too...even if it is making look more interesting than it actually is!

Also the reason i cant get a snap of it

What are you using? The WeatherFlow? I’ve got mine and it’s working well, very good lightning detection.

I ditched that about 18 months ago. Nothing but problems in the end! I would records lightning every day with it, no matter it's placement.

I have an Ecowitt detector now, which has been brilliant. No false positives at all.

Though it’s a very faint memory, I believe it was July 1999, I remember looking out my window before bed, and the sky was like it is now, brilliantly blue with no sign at all of anything at all! I never thought in a million years I’d be waking up 6 to 8 hours later thinking that the world is coming to an end. The sound of the extreme rain is what initially woke me up, but then a huge evil rumble of thunder followed. I remember daring not to even open my eyes! I must’ve been 7 years old.

I remember having a dream about flying through a thunderstorm as a passenger on an airliner. A massive crackling clap of thunder happened and then all of a sudden I woke up and the same rumble continued and I realised there was a mega storm outside

oh okay well it’s working fine for me so far. I guess it’s very sensitive to placement.

I will look into that detector then as well; thanks .

Lowish to mid level. It sort of looks like the atmosphere is a bit agitated.

That's more like it,  people are getting too over excited with the current homegrown showers.   The frequent lightning from mid levels needs the cooling night air to pop off.

That ribbon of cloud is moving in here now. You watch, something will finally ignite from it once it gets east of Brum!

Anyone seen the satellite picture for northern Spain/Southern France??? Absolutely crazy! Looks like a hurricane or a nuclear detonation with all that cloud from the storms

The cloud tops aren't bad either, the Chernbourg  one is rapidly groing too.

Been watching it from here. It makes an attempt to grow but quickly collapses in on itself again.
