That main band looks to be pivoting ese looks like the Midlands could be in the firing line this evening.

I know I thought that, weird, but it’s the evening snow symbols that interest me

Great BBC update with hours of heavy snow forecast now. On the other hand Met Office says a couple of hours of drizzle. I think met office is overdoing this warm sector, it's brief uppers of -4C.

Met Office has my area of the Midlands down for 5 hours of light snow this evening. We'll see. Regardless, been a good week so no complaints from me either way.

The BBC looks a lot more realistic to me - just sleet here this afternoon, but with snow this evening.

BBc has heavy snow and sleet. Met office says 7 hours of light snow. Think Met are most likely to be right as usual. BBC are clueless now tbh.

Light snow here for the past 2 hours, fizzling out now.  Interested to see what this evening brings.

Walking down the canal to Stone. Canal is frozen over and covered in snow in places. 6th straight day of snow cover.

Just like that Met app removes 7 hours and now has heavy snow for 2 hours. These things are useless I don't know why I look at them the same as the BBC both dont really have a clue. Radar is always best bet tbh.

Next 48hrs on the ukv model shows some showers, nothing really notable and tend to be more sleet or rain. The problem is dew points show to be rising a little above 0c as the easterly develops, coming off the n.sea.

All they are doing is providing a visualisation of the latest model run.   And if the latest run shows the precipitation 20 miles further west, or arriving 30 later, than the previous one, that can make a big difference to what its shows for you.

Apps are not forecasts (despite being sold as such) - but they can be used as forecasting tools when you do not have access to other data.   And for general amusement (especially when they still show 3 hours of heavy snow this afternoon in Evesham, despite the continuing absence of any lamp-post eating pink giraffes at all, let alone ones inclined to buy Wetherspoons)

I honestly have know idea what the obsession is on the met and BBC weather symbols iv just scrolled nearly 2 pages of that crap. It changes like the clappers.

Study the radar, look at the paramaters as to what tells you if it's wet or white, and make your own forecast all the tools are there for us to make it easy.

For those of us in the snow starved East Midlands. Hopefully we see development of showers within the blue area over the next few hours.

Snow has sadly passed away here now.

A nice little surprise this morning to be fair. Hopefully some more wintry surprises for a number later on
