Another great sunset this evening

Lovely sunset

We didnt get overhead storms.. they continually died before they got here due to a lack of energy here. However it's a good job I have a top floor with a good view.. I managed to catch some lightning.

Clouded over can hear some rumbles from the North Wigan way. We've been pretty spoiled with all the elevated storms...id quite like a surface based one please.

yes I suspect what I thought initially might be true.. the CAPE by the coast has been dissolved by sea breezes. The cloud to the southwest refuses to produce any thunder/lightning. So I think this might be an inland job.

What do they call that area just to the west of London... posh land....home counties...bucks etc... anyway they are getting some beefy homegrown storms just now....feel sorry for the furnace that is London city...they spawned most of the turbulent activity only for it to blow westwards away from them.  Back to the mid 30's oven for those inside the m25.

Thanks, yeah it does, first time I've managed to see a cell developing like this, usually it's at a terrible angle imby, still yet to see any Mammatus clouds though although I think we probably had some on Monday just it was too dark

I wonder where that's from.. The cell to the southwest of us seems inactive at the moment, could be the Wigan cell I suppose as I could hear thunder from the cell that moved over Cheshire and Lancs last night.

Met office updated Amber warning for West of the region. I wonder what they're seeing?

Edit:

Don't see amber often.

Considering they have yellow across most of UK from Monday - Monday I'd take an Amber with a grain of salt, still it gives us some hope for something nice to happen

There's a huge tower to my right (east) and growing, and pitch black toward my left.

Looking on the matrix I think it's more just saying an increased likelihood of experiencing the impacts from storms but as we all know they're so hit and miss thunderstorms.

could be any one of those I suppose though I'd be hearing the stuff to the west.. which I'm not, so it must be from the east.

It looks like we might just miss out on the current showers, but there is the rest of the evening, which more showers developing to the south, we might hear a topographically influenced storms from Wales maybe. One things for sure it's really developed quite rapidly.

This looks like the anvil top of the Wigan cell as viewed from the north west of Macclesfield, due to the milky skies it's not very detailed but you can make it out.
