Nice and fresh on the tops with snow becoming powdery & forming a glaze layer. -2C at present.

Looks like someone was looking for an argument in here (and in other parts of the forum as it goes), those posts have been removed now, so please refresh the screen if you still see them.

The showers to the east are clearing northwards, the shower to the southwest of Manchester will also miss me to the west.

Oh well, at least tonight i will sleep well without the heat.

Rumbles are getting louder now, wind is picking up and rain is getting heavier. Getting exciting now.

Storm moving away to the North now but saw a few bits of lightning and had several deep rolls of thunder. Storm developed in-situ and could see the cumulonimbus clouds shooting upwards. Pleasant surprise.

Some big thunderstorms just to my north, just to my east and just to my south-east. Hearing lots of little distant rumbles every 2 to 3 seconds and it’s raining heavily as well. Must be really loud right overhead.

Really kicking off now between Barnoldswick and Settle, can see really dark clouds just to my north, if only the storm was just a few miles further south. Still raining heavily here now though, with frequent distant rumbles.

Can hear that beast rumbling away from here, sounds like artillery fire!

Feeling really hot now after the refreshing rain this morning.

It's a lot fresher here now the showers have passed, even though they missed us entirely. Only 20C now.

Well, looks like we say goodbye to continental heat and say hello to our good old friend the Atlantic.

A monumental downpour here before, now the sun has come out. Nice cloudscapes around at the moment.

After a reasonable start it’s turned into a vile day now with shower after shower.

nice way to ruin a mid summer weekend?

Plenty of heavy showers here today. And this is all that Atlantic based, not convective. Quite unusual to get such torrential rain from an Atlantic system.

A monster shower just now (9.30am) in S Cheshire and more to come I believe, but no thunder

Sadly no thunder, just.. rain... Barely anything on the radar. It’s to be expected though as were in an Atlantic  air mass now.

Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.
