Well the rain band wasn't really much of a streamer to be honest, it had a more West to East movement and it's also fizzled out a bit since this morning.  Still we're not going to have much brightness before the dark descends and tomorrow's a virtual write-off.

Yeah it’s shaping up nicely to be yet another write off weekend.

how long is it since we had a dry, sunny Saturday and Sunday, seems a lifetime ago.

A dry cloudy afternoon.   Sun?     Saw a sliver of light way out west at sunset.    It's said Vit D3 tabets are "flying off the shelves".

Sunshine out west and possibly dry tomorrow afternoon; at this rate you’ll miss out on breaking the wettest year record by about 1mm

Considering the extremely dry spring we had, it’s amazing that 2020 has turned out so wet overall.

2020 had a very wet stormy start.      We got 572.8 mm until March 20th when the tap was suddenly turned off.

Absolutely tipping it down at the moment, a couple of garden pots have been blown over too.  Looking at the radar, Manchester seems to be under quite a stormy downpour with hail over the Bolton area. Not very pleasant out there at all and still quite dark. This will certainly add to the rainfall totals.

Does going looking for snow count as essential travel when leaving a Tier 3 area

Is 'a bit damp' Lancashire for jaffa cakes-ing down which it has been all day here?!   (Edit - I'm not sure 'jaffa cakes-ing down' is quite what I intended but you know what I mean)

Yeah it’s pretty much peeeeeed it down all day, never torrential but steady throughout and blown horizontally by the wind at times.

a thoroughly awful day and the rivers have certainly responded.

Risk chart if you want it.

Ensembles have gradual cool down too - so looking forward to slightly "colder" drizzle on the Fylde as opposed to "lukewarm"

And maybe a bit of sleety stuff up here but after the procession of mild Christmas Day’s we seem to have had lately it’s looking like an improvement although maybe a messy one.

Still sodden here.     16.0 mm rain collected this morning for all yesterday's gloom and wet.  Expected more TBH.

Total now so far for 2020 is 1933.5 mm.   Still to beat these top totals over last 50yrs -- 1936.1mm ( 2017) , 1947.4 mm (2000) and 1984.0 mm (2012).

Quite sheltered from the showers out west, here inland to the east of the region.  Some decent sunny spells for a change.  I should slap myself for even paying any attention to possible xmas day wintry options now showing 11 days out, but hey...we might just get that frosty morning after all.  Beats mild, grey, murky crap of previous years.  I'm resigning myself to the inevitable backdown and Santa not delivering, but at the moment there's a little 'wintry' hope.

A dry spell here after a showery day some pretty heavy too.

Models still looking decent for a possible cold spell over the hols, plenty of ups & downs to go yet I suspect.

Models all seem in agreement for something seasonal Christmas week.10 days off and plenty of time for the usual festive disaster.

NE England looking sweet spot  for the Big Day - but any altitude will favour well as usual from the Cold NW flow - Atlantic looks reasonably block.

All to play for - eyes down.

More runs needed - lol.
