That's the forecast which is only a forecast, I think it maybe nowcast for the rest of the day...

It used to happen in the 80's all the time rain turning to snow, we've been so used to it being the other way around lately that's it's harder to believe. Interesting and let's hope it's a sign of things to come for everyone.

When do we think that there will be some snowy interest, Sunday?

The 26th looks rough before that!!

So glad to be waking tomorrow to a frosty Christmas!!And hopefully Friday too...

Let's be optimistic we get a chance of snow as we head through the weekend.

Let's also be thankful we are here to watch events unfold, and hope next year is better for everyone , most importantly stay safe everybody!

Merry Christmas from net weathers number 1 moaner !

Strong easterly gusts today but looking at the radar most of the GM area has been in a small circular window (aka dome/shield) of relative dry conditions.  A few spits and spots here and there but nothing what other places are getting.  It would be a low punch if it was snow but thankfully it mostly rain and it's avoiding here.  However it does seem to be closing in on all sides so we might get a soaking before the days out.

Yeah it looks like the Peaks and South Pennines are gobbling it all up.

It’s like having a cocky but tiny version of the Andes in your back garden when it comes to blocking stuff from the east.

just a shame it never does the same when it comes to stopping a westerly feed crossing over the other side and then more than often actually intensifying.

as you say though it’s cold rain so nothing lost but if it had have been snow there would have been a lot of peeeeed off people in this region.

Surprised there wasn't a warning for the wind today. I know living here a NE wind funnels through the valley as the topography of the river is on a NE to SW axis but it really has been gusty this afternoon and evening. Trees dancing about and bins blown over.

Been horrendous winds really strong gust suprised no warning either must be 65mph plus with at least some 75mph gusts... must be some trees down around

Not bad here, windy and rain throughout but nothing out the ordinary.

Anyway it looks like we’ve got a couple of dry winter days to look forward to now before the crap returns on Boxing Day.

hopefully an opportunity for a socially distanced walk or two.

A lovely Christmas Eve is being forecast, hooray! Widespread air frost, and not clearing through the day, except in areas where sun gets to work most, at this time of year, it struggles to hit many parts, followed by a cold starry night - just what I would order, a bit of snow would be even better, but I'll take a hard frost and Jack Frost visiting. Waking up to a frosty scene Christmas morning just the tonic.

It looks like an icy start to Christmas Eve but hopefully a lovely winters day is on the way.

just waiting for it to come light and then it’s time for a brisk walk before the last minute mayhem starts

It is indeed a cold start, but with the winter sun streaming through the high clouds, I think we are going to be in for a rare dry bright if not sunny day. Let's hope the dry weather lasts until tomorrow evening or (even better) until Boxing Day or later. We can but hope!

Wishing all NW regional contributors all the best for Christmas. I have really enjoyed contributing over the past 9 months or so since I joined the Forum.

There's a real sparkle to the frost here, now the cloud is clearing!  Looks gorgeous.  Winter Hill living up to its name in the best way.

Back from a decent walk, a bit icy underfoot at times and certainly a nip in the air but nice all the same.

At one stage a bit of patchy cloud even gave the odd flake of falling snow

Radar has festive Sleet working into NE - Northumbria.

Decent out this morning - glad to be free of the murk.

Looking at the radar, they are making a decent effort at moving inland and have reached the Dales.

if the Pennines don’t break them up we may just see a bit of seasonal wintryness over this side in the coming hours
