Looks like it will be my first ever autumn without a frost. Just missed out 2 nights ago. Ironic when we had 2 frosts in mid May to destroy the prospects of an apple or plum harvest. Gloom gloom currently

That's strange. We had two ground frosts in September, then nothing in October and a few more this month. September frost is unusual here. We had no snow at all last winter.

All eyes on Friday for us, one to certainly keep an eye on.

@Day 10 settling snow 150-200m+for our part of the region certainly can not rule snow falling in heavier PPN depending on conditions certainly would not rule out a very brief covering.Good news is though with the jet taking a vacation to our south we stay on the cold side of the jet stream, just need those uppers to nose dive and we will be in business,a very interesting December coming up and no doubt some snowy possibilities we are certainly in the game which is more than we have been in the last few years.

Well here I am in my new house in Halewood at last. Already had one air frost the other  day  and my old weather station I left in Crosby did not have one so promising start to my moving inland for more fun weather  plan. I updated signature with new weather station data for anyone  interested.

Let’s see what Later this week brings.

I’ve not seen a covering for two winters, which for my area is unheard of.

Grassington had a covering on a trek out  15th December 2019 - and that was that.

Another drab-depressing day here in the peaks with constant drizzle and low cloud, the house lights needing to be switched on at half 2 as the evening set in early today so hopefully the skies are a little brighter and cheerier tomorrow to allow a few hours walking around the hills before the cold sets in. I can't remember a more bleaker November where it was just one overcast sky after another.

Looks like our region could be in the sweet spot for some heavy snow later in the week.

still time for changes to specifics, or downgrades as we call them in our part of the country but it’s looking good for now and probably the first time since before lockdown that those darn sarf would sell their granny for what the Northwest is inundated with.

Noticed Granada reports saying turning much more wintery later this week with snow on higher ground. Of course they are covering all bases at the moment by leaving out lower ground. At the moment though I think it looks promising for those of us inland with modest height. As usual though the further away from the Irish sea the better where dew points & marginality will be lower.

I’m sure with our crap climate, hunting for snow counts as essential travel.

Waking up to 3rd frost so far this 'Late Autumn/Winter'...didn't count last years occurrences but I'd expect we were towards the back-end of winter before we notched up the same number of frosts, if any at all.

Hoping to see at least some falling flurries (however wet they may be) before the week is out, although not expecting any settling at my locality.

It definitely feels like the first day of meteorological Winter outside this morning with a deep-frost covering the outside surfaces and I had to remind myself that it's just evaporative cooling that's caused it and not the actual northerly setting in just yet (which shows how mild and cloudy the nights have been here during almost all of November.)

My wife is sure that there were a few flakes of snow around when she was up in the night. Moon was bright but some cloud about. Can any local experts tell me if that was possible?

Right now Thursday/Friday is looking good for the region. Some things are going for us at present - cold air mass, the region on the northern side of the LP & relatively light winds should all help with potential snow. The slow moving LP system seems to chuck in a lot of precipitation at us and some of this will probably be wintry as early as Thursday morning for high ground but the best chances for more of us will be Thursday night into Friday.
