"A few rain showers will also feed over Wales and NW England from lunchtime onwards but well scattered".

We've just been visited by one of these 'well scattered' showers and I can't decide who got more wet, the washing on the line or me trying to get the washing off the line and indoors. And they think it's all over, it is now! Grrr!

Evening All

Well 24hrs can be a long time in weather watching the general consensus on todays models is for it to turn colder from around day 7 todays 12z GFS shows a corker of a slider which would deliver the first significant snowfall of the season for Northern High ground certainly going to be an interesting weekend to see if todays models gain more interest in respect to next weekends cold shot or if it ends up to be a dead duck.

Yes apart from a light dusting last week, the fells so far have had nothing. In an average year should normally expect a decent covering by about third weekend of Nov, so hopefully next weekend might bring just that.

Hopefully,at least ECM is showing some nice frosty conditions next weekend which is a start Hopefully loose this mild muk and usher in something more colder for the last week of November.

Next weekend is providing a bit of excitement, I'll settle for seeing a light dusting of snow on the distant hills.  These saturdays come round quick, off out shopping for folks shortly, it's a bit damp, some decent gusts, there'll be a few Boris hair styles out there.  Garden temp in double figures at 10°.

Yes looking probable for marked cool down at the end of this coming week. Temps struggling to get much above 4 or 5C inland on Friday with some winteryness about on the hills. Still 6 days away though yet and could get snatched away. To the here & now it's got up to 14C round here today which is pretty impressive for mid November.

Yeah feels very mild outside today, actually feels colder in the house but at least there’s no heating on.

as you say, looking at lot cooler by next weekend, just hope it can deliver a covering of snow rather than the usual wishbone we always seem to get from a cold northerly but even a few dry seasonal days with a sharp overnight frost and cold days would make a change from wet and mild muck.

Evening

Just home from work and catching up.From a quick glance at the models looks like a cold front crosses the country on Wednesday behind this it turns colder for all Thursday looks kike a day of sunshine and showers with snow showers to low levels across parts of Scotland but certainly a day to wrap up across our region feeling cold in the brisk wind with temperatures struggling in low single digits.A possibility of another LP system later on Thursday which could give snow over the High ground(pennines north) looks like turning milder briefly before once again turning colder by the end of next weekend.good place to stop me thinks as then going into the more unreliable time frame.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Edit just my opinion I may be reading the models wrong been a long day.

Yes, just about sums it up. Must say current conditions are very dismal, and dreary, uninspiring November weather - need an injection of polar air to clear things and bring some sunshine and sparkling clarity to the air, current weather is 'draining' saps any energy you may have.. move on November!

Beefy squally showers coming through here at the moment, setting the scene for what is looking like a day of frequent  showers and only limited dry and bright.

a day for inside jobs I imagine

Models seem to have had a change of mind this morning (nothing new) still a very brief cold shot with wintry/snow showers over high ground.Friday looks the coldest day of the week with Max temperature in the 5-7c range, even into the weekend temperatures still not probably recovered with 8-9c looking to be the max.

Surprisingly perhaps, after early heavy showers, we now have blue skies and bright sunshine over the last hour. But will it last I wonder?

We had a bit of sunshine a while back but it’s mainly showery here and raining at at the moment.

Cannot get enthused by current weather, the month so far bar the 5th and 6th which brought welcome sunshine has been drab. November tends to be our most drab uninspiring month anyway, December weather is often more drab but the Christmas feel takes away the misery..

No sun, No fun November!

Another miserable murky day here with persistent drizzle, hoping that HP sets in soon to allow at least one cloudless-sky day full of sunshine before the Winter Solstice and the snow-season arrives. On the plus-side the shortest day is only 5 weeks away and soon the daylight hours will slowly be getting longer again.

Can’t wait for the shortest day and the slow return to lighter nights.

IMO it’s the worst thing about winter, even worse than endless mild and wet when it could be cold and snowy.

First GFS V ECM standoff of the season

GFS FI UK Winter Wonderland

ECM usual uk rubbish

Years of model watching you would have to back the ECM.

Its been a unusual year so anything could happen

Don't forget that although 21 Dec is the shortest day, the evenings actually get lighter from 12th or 13th Dec. So we'll all be sitting outside enjoying the evening sun on Christmas Day, won't we?! Pity about the mornings.
