It didn’t amount to much in the end.

Pity it's a rather drab overcast afternoon, can't make the most of light, which come tomorrow will be vanishing by 5pm. Lots of heavy rain this morning, valley bottoms, river sides waterlogged and fast flowing streams down the fell sides. Certainly feels we've stepped into the jaws of Autumn today and no turning back.

Same here, wet and a bit windy all day, trees almost bare of their autumn leaves.  Garden thermometer 12°, quite mild still.  Don't know what to have for tea later, just eaten a huge chunk of chocolate chip cake and double cream.

What a vile afternoon. Pretty much going dark an hour ago. Got a stew almost done in the slow cooker washed down with some ale. Certainly a night for a hearty meal. Not a Mediterranean salad kinda night haha

If Monday is as gloomy as today I’ll be driving home in the dark through to late February.

what a frightening thought.

I must admit, the lack of daylight hours bothers me far more than days of endless grey gloom,  really hoping for some snow this winter, and if it does snow, please can it hang around for more than 2 hours.  We are all in need of a good weather distraction this winter.

Just had a good beefy shower here, sounded like hail at first, but poked my head out the back door, it's just rain and my thermometer has only dropped by one degree to 11°.

Still raining although it looks like the heaviest is starting to pull away from here now.

hopefully tomorrow will be better but unless your collecting water to bottle and sell, today has been one for the bin.

time to open a bottle of red

No salad here either. A spicy sausage casserole and some nice WInter ale. May have a walk later on if it's not too heavy....

I've been wondering the past few days whether this Winter will be colder due to the countries shutting down because of covid around the globe.

Looking at the weather forecast last night, it seemed that in this region at least (but not further south), the thin squally line associated with the active cold front was subsumed by a more substantial area of rain which was not previously forecast. Thus there was more rain than forecast but less in the way of a squally ending to the rain. It was 11pm before I noted that the rain had cleared from this part of the region and I think there must have been further showers during the night which have continued to the present. Hope this makes sense. I enjoyed the walk in the light to the paper shop at 7.30am this morning, but not looking forward to the dark evening from 5pm tonight. At least we are having a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings including Yorkshire pudding!

Thought I would just use the excuse of walking the dog to sneak over the border into tier 2 West Yorkshire for 5 minutes to see if was any different than here.

it wasn’t and at least the tier 3 Lancashire sunset is better

It's enough to make you feel physically sick, just rain, rain, rain, and even if it doesn't materialise to this extent, it's safe to say the next week will be more wet than dry.

No science behind it but I think this winter Is going to be another one with plenty of rain and less in the way of dry frosty and, dare I say snowy days.

it seems to be the annoying default setting these days and although I’d love to be proved wrong, I can’t see it.
