Absolutely no science involved here but I am going for a front loaded winter with a cold end to November before a very cold December very similar to 2010.

With a January 2010 thrown in too. But I think I'm asking for a bit too much!

Full blown blizzards and a full blown lockdown.

i can picture it now, snow piled up on roads empty of cars and long lines of shivering folk outside supermarkets empty of essential items and bumbling Boris still insisting that the crisis is all to the people not following his ever changing messages.

will it happen, Christmas will probably be mild, wet and windy but as for the other two, I think there’s a damn good chance.

Yes, definitely would like to see a decent snow fall or two this season and more sharp frosts in the the morning.  Last winter seemed an endless stretch of grey, mild, damp days.

Yeah same up here.

We had a couple of days when a bit of wet snow fell but I’ve lived in the same house for nearly 25 years and I’m pretty sure that last winter was the first one where I never cleared a single flake of snow off the drive.

Certainly a poor effort for my altitude.

First frost of the winter here this morning but hopefully a decent usable day ahead.

Sorry yes I could have worded it better although now our sunny morning has turned into a cloudy raw afternoon, the feel of the day wouldn’t be out of place in mid winter.

Had a ground frost this morning but probably not as cold tonight. Likely to be more cloud here in the east of the region. Although western areas of the region could see clearer skies so I think sheltered areas of Cheshire near to Wales could be chilly. Possibly also Cumbria.

Don’t know about that, our living room is in the east of the region and it’s pretty damn cold in there.

only September though so it’s a blanket rather than putting the heating on

Out on the Howgills today, felt like early Winter, significant wind chill, layers on - bitter wind. A lovely day though crisp with blue skies and polar air bringing plenty of sunshine and clear views. Much rather have such days than grey mild dank skies courtesy of the atlantic. Looking like two excellent weekends on the trot in terms of dry sunny weather, albeit very different in feel from late summer last weekend, to a late autumnal feel this one.

-1.4C was the low here this morning. Been a while since it was that low in September even in this frost prone valley. Looking back at my records possibly 2005.

Thick fog here at 0700, proper 100m visibility. Cleared now and I think the sun is about to break through.

Fog was interesting this morning, it wasn't there when I woke up at 6am...by 7am a spooky mist descended... it was quite dense for hour or two between 7:30-9:30...then it disappeared quite quickly once the sun broke through to leave a very decent late September's day.

Tomorrow - Spiralling low pressure to bring filth for the next 3-5 days.

A relative in Saddleworth didn't believe me when I said how foggy it was this morning until I went on video haha. They must have been above it at 250m.

Yes, I went over Saddleworth Moor on the M62 yesterday morning and the fog disappeared as I climbed up to the summit at 1200 feet, and it did not reappear on the east side of the Pennines, resulting in a nice sunny autumnal day in North Yorkshire.

Horrible wet day today. A good day to stay indoors. Nice day yesterday though. Weather app forecasting rain most days and highs of 12/13°C. Typical October weather. Saturday looks very wet indeed.  I don’t mind too much now we’re into Autumn.

I’ve not been on here much recently and I probably won’t post again unless the weather turns interesting (for example a named storm or we get snow) otherwise I’ll probably just hibernate for the next six months or so and post again in the spring.

Bye for now.

Was looking forward to a final niceish day under this ridge, as forecasted by the BBC.

Instead it's overcast and showery.
