Tuesday's looking vile for anyone outdoors...not only do we get a first bashing of rain and wind early morning, a second thumping follows on pretty sharp as the low barrels through.  The gap between the two almost negligible.

Oh what a beautiful morning....

Will have to think of a song when I face tomorrow's chapter.

Not a great outlook for any warmth. A cool and unsettled end to Summer looking odds on. ECM even showing a bit of Arctic air dropping south towards the end of the run. Watch September be the warmest on record.

I would personally love a warm and sunny September. We haven’t had one since 2016. Since then they’ve been pretty cool and wet on the whole. The Septembers we had in the 2000’s and early 2010’s seemed better than the ones we get now, but maybe that’s just selective memory.

Well it's a clear sunny day here but it feels more like what we had back in April - very warm sat in direct sunlight out of the breeze, but chilly in the shade.

Indeed. The sun strength similar to late April now. So it's still got some strength to it. Different story next month as we go past the Autumn equinox.

Tommorows deep low pressure has been named as Storm Francis.

After that, turning drier but also colder, Friday looks like a notably cool day with temperatures struggling to get into the teens, and some unseasonably cold nights to come over the weekend.

Looks like autumn has arrived early this year.

Horrible wet and windy day today but at least it’s not cold, feels quite mild and humid outside.

Wind has picked up here - the rain being the main feature though as Met Office warnings indicated. Very autumnal weather except for temperatures it's quite mild.

I wouldn't call 16C for an August afternoon, quite mild.

The average August high for Liverpool is 19C, 20C in Manchester, the average August low is 13C so I stand by calling it mild but perhaps I should have been clearer and said quite mild in the context of it chucking it down and being windy for that past 4 hours or so, BBQ weather it clearly ain't . It reminds me of one of those low pressures we get in the winter which delivers the infamous North West England cold rain but snows on the northern edge. Peculiar for August but nothing exceptional - just a miserable old day that we get in abundance in the coming months.

Heavy rain this morning here with a drier spell before turning very heavy again from mid afternoon.

River levels are pretty high at the moment but it looks like the drier few hours around the middle of the day may have just kept us on the safe side of flooding.

locally though I’d say that today has edged out last weeks storm in the crappiness stakes.

Met Office shipping forecast at 6pm gave centre of low as 979 mb.  Was then in N Irish Sea east of IOM.  Where did it come ashore?  Somewhere in Morecambe Bay?
