Heavy showers are slipping by to my south east, rolling over the peak district hills.  No Lightning showing on the detection map, so probably just very heavy localised downpours.

We had a bit of rain overnight and the forecast promised a gloomy day

instead, it’s been clear blue skies all day, super strong August sunshine, 23C all day.

the PERFECT late summers day.

But for some dark clouds moving up from the south (more flooding round Stafford and Telford I believe) and a brief but potent shower on the M6 near Lymm at 2pm, I would agree with you. A strange sort of day with heavy rain at 7am followed by bright warm sunshine.

Quite a nice day today. Sunny intervals and around 22 degrees, with a moderate breeze.

Very quiet on here today, compared to the excitement when we had the storms and heat last week. Thought there would be a few people commenting on the windy conditions out in the west, it’s not been particularly windy here today but I know that some western coastal locations such Penzance and Egremont were forecast to get 50-60 mph wind gusts last night. Did they overcook the wind speed?

I was quite disappointed last night with the lack of wind, was hoping for a good blow. Hopefully more wind tomorrow. We always seem to get the most boring weather here in the east of the region, less sun, less thunderstorms and less wind. At least we tend to do better for snow though.

Tuesday started off cloudy with some rain here but then the evening was nice and sunny and warm.

Well it’s been a very nice day here, long sunny spells and highs of around 22°. Not too windy either, just a pleasant breeze.  Was supposed to have been very windy along western coasts today, but everyone on here is staying very quiet today. Maybe they overestimated the forecast wind speed?

My naughty tortoiseshell cat has sneaked out of the house and is refusing to come back in. The little tinker keeps running off whenever I approach her! It is quite a balmy night, and it is usually on these warm summer nights that she does it, though the wind is starting to pick up a bit. I remember one warm night in summer 2018 it was nearly midnight before she came back in!

Thanks for the advice but she’s come back in now on her own accord.

Looking like turning a bit more Autumnal over the next week or so. Some pretty frequent weather systems coming in from the Atlantic. The final nail in the coffin of Summer 2020. Which for the most part has been a poor one. Really noticing the light levels decreasing now too.

Yes, the nights and mornings are drawing in.

Last year September started the wet months which carried till March this year.

I could have made a killing being a Moss farmer, it was growing on everything including the car roofbar strips.

Horrible Morning here very Autumnal feels like an October morning with gusty winds and rain on and off.
