Cool and cloudy today here, suspect western parts of the region have the "lions share of the sunshine" as the forecaster put last night on itv Granada weather.

Yes, been largely sunny here most of today so far and just a few small puffs of cloud around at the moment.

Forgot to upload this, recorded a small thunderstorm the other night. Not in the same league as what other parts of the region had, but better than nothing.

Yep, another nice Sunny & very warm day here like the last couple of days, beats all those cloud filled days the last couple months, just hope all this heat provides some more storms

Pretty dull today. Just brief glimpses of sun. At least the house is cooling down now.

Excellent day in the Lake District, lots of sunny spells and maxes widely around 25 degrees, one of the best spots to be in England and Wales. However, the last day of the warm spell, back to average tomorrow and through next week going below average.

We sometimes get north sea glag here, but other times it stays on the Yorkshire side. Today wasn't one of those times unfortunately.

Enough of this continental heat madness...this is the UK...this is in particular the North West.

Our old friend 'The Jet Stream' is making a return to our shores for the end of this week.

Aye back to normality.

hope the low cloud and drizzle we have at the moment isn’t set for the day though.

Was said partly in jest though...although probably about 5c higher than my comfortable level and a bit too sticky at night for sleeping, last weeks hot weather was just the tonic for early august, and the storms (albeit not severe here) were very welcome.

Well at least the (slightly) cooler temps will make it more comfortable for outdoor activities and nights should be a bit more comfortable for sleeping. In the meantime, last chance to squeeze out some more thunderstorms today, tonight and tomorrow.

East Anglia, parts of the Mids and the southeast are the best places to be today. High risk of storms there.

Here we have the dreaded easterly wind but we may import an elevated storm from the east late tonight or in the early hours.

Was overcast all day here yesterday, max of just 17°C or so. Mind you, I remember last weekend it was the other way around, when I had a mostly sunny day whereas you guys further south and west were mostly cloudy, so swings and roundabouts.

Amazing how much weather can vary over such a short distance.

Indeed it is! Today we're back to miserably cloudy although it's still feels fairly warm even though we're only at 20 degrees

Yes I was surprised to see that Keswick was the warmest place in the U.K. yesterday with 25°C when I checked the temperatures on XC weather, very unusual for Cumbria to be the hottest place! At the same time, poor old Heathrow was only at 19°C!

Not as good here though, been mostly cloudy since Thursday and yesterday had no sun with temperatures below 20°C, the North Sea is making its presence known here.

Not so here. Just stepped outside and it feels very chilly, just 17°C here according to BBC Weather. I suspect the North Sea is having an effect.

Oh dear. Very dark this morning with hill fog, Pendle hill completely covered in mist. Feels very chilly outside as well, have we skipped ahead to October?

I suspect the North Sea is affecting the weather here, very unusual for August. Hopefully I’ll get some sunshine between the showers next week as the wind turns westerly.

It has been a gloomy, overcast day here so far with one or two showers. Clouds less heavy now with a sense that things are brightening. Wouldn't be surprised to see the sun burst through before too long. Satellite shows significant breaks over the Midlands which are moving this way.

Just caught a brief but heavy shower that made it here from the east. Hopefully the first of many. Looking at the radar, there is a lot of activity in the Sheffield area heading westwards.

Some storms in Lincolnshire also heading westwards.

I hope I'm wrong, but despite such a bullish metoffice forecast for tonight, I think we'll just end up with the dreaded 'thundery' rain. Most of the electrical activity seems to be keeping over to the East
