The sky here is so yellow the pic doesn’t do justice. Rain too

Yes, noticed this before. Sky is black, light rain, distant rumbles. That storm is literally inching up, we may get lucky...

Edit: here we go! Flash, bang.

NW sky appropriately on fire this evening with bright golden orange colours changing to intense red.    However to south there's black threatening clouds. So -- what next?  Not a drop of rain here today.  No thunder as yet, though could hear very distant drumming late afternoon.  Max temp today 29.2C.  Sweaty and tropical.   Currently 24.0C.  Occasionally  there's been a light NE breeze, but calm now.  Clouds moving slowly from south all day.

I suppose with the warming climate, this is going to occur more often, only downside is even less snow.

The cells look to be merging like Arome predicted ?

It's becoming quite the beast - looks like it's following arome as C.S said. We have persistent rain now and very elevated thunder/lightning like Monday. One interesting thing is that if you watch the radar it looks like different bits of the mass of precipitation and cells are moving in different directions. Mostly broadly north west but the heavier bit of ppn in the north of it is moving north east? What an odd and memorable weather week it's been.

A house in Macclesfield was struck in the very early hours and set afire, had to be put out by fire crews, as far as I  know the occupants were ok.  A property in nearby Prestbury also caught fire after it was struck too.

Yeah there were a few near us too. Reports of severe flooding Delamere Forest/ Northwich way - pubs have had to close early. Not surprised though as that way has been sat under the storm for well over an hour now.

I can see pretty much constant lightening to my SW. I’m in Warrington it’s raining very lightly and rumbles of thunder. Nothing giving us a direct hit yet but light show is great

why has cheshire been hit bad 2 nights running?

Is it because of the Cheshire plains? I have no idea but would love to find the answer meantime the madness continues

Meanwhile over this way there's been nothing since Monday night. Nothing here yet but I'm still hopeful. We need a good storm to cool things down if nothing else.
