That thunderstorm last night was something else. It was too late to bother coming here posting about it (about 1.30-2am in the morning onwards) but constant thunder and lightning for a good hour. Flash flooding locally as well.

I can cope with the thunder but lightning flashes 20 seconds to a minute (if even that far) apart when it's pitch black is probably the most terrifying weather you can experience in the UK to me.

Some brief storms down in S Cheshire last night more like heavy showers to be honest. Hot & Humid with hazy sunshine today at 28c. Looking even hotter tomorrow 29-32c with feel like temperatures with humidity  in the mid- high 30’s! Could well beat the summer high of  31c recorded on July 31st down here! Quite impressive for this part of the world☀️

I hope not but bbc weather app is forecasting 26°C for tommorow (27°C today) and 22°C on Thursday. Not long to wait until much cooler fresher air arrives by the weekend.

A very uninspiring Meto fotrecast for this evening

Any isolated thunder storms dying out leading to a dry humid night

C.S

I hope not CS. We need a storm to clear the air! Gone up to 25°C in the bedroom. Not looking forward to sleeping tonight!

Tomorrow looks peak of the heat probably getting to around 28/29c for you in East Lancs and then gradually fresher from Thursday.

BBC app now removed thunder ⚡ symbols for the evening for Manchester.

Might get some cracking storms now..

Yes I’ve just checked the app now and for here all thunder symbols have been removed now except between 23:00 and 01:00 tonight and tommorow afternoon. When I checked this morning it was forecasting thunder all night and on Thursday and Friday. Grrrrrr....

I travelled across the Pennines to be an honorary Yorkshireman for a few days and absolutely no sign of storms anywhere on the journey. I looked at the weather on the BBC news at 6.30pm and most signs of storm activity have disappeared, with another scorcher forecast for the NW and NE. As northwestsnow has suggested, we should expect storms tomorrow and I must remember to take my brolly with me!

Activity to our South once more pushing north, developing as it does so, could be a rinse & repeat scenario.

Hope they stay intact by the time they reach here.... from a personal my-back-garden point of view, I need some cluster developing/being born just around the south cheshire/crewe area and drifting north east to give a potential hit around East Manchester area.

Still, hot and humid, probably the least comfortable-sleeping-night of this hot spell....still at least we're not being roasted alive in the South East

Looking like Cheshire/Merseyside and parts of Greater Manchester will be in the fireing line for storms tomorrow afternoon with the possibility of these spreading North have seen this on Met desk site but not sure i am allowed to post in here with temperatures reaching the 30c mark again tomorrow hopefully it will be enough to break the cap and allow this hot spell to go out with a spectacular bang.

My lightning App is currently pinging away in an area just south of Chester which would explain the developments in Wales.

Almost constant lighting up of the sky. Amazing lightshow. No thunder so must be coming all the way from the Shropshire cells.
