Showers now breaking out over Worksop and following the arc, they may get past Sheffield to Manchester.

Quite a change in the last hour, bright blue skies and most of the clouds are gone.  Just a few, small, fair weather cumulus here and there (the milky blinding glare low to the horizon is still there though, urgh) and the temps finally on the way up, around 19/20c.

A few heavy showers here, started around 11am, almost fully overcast, the odd gap, not sure what'll become of it

Both of them options available to me and it looks like the Nottingham to Preston one may offer me slightly greater rewards, so I may head for that one

Thats the one I would favour for better chance at FC and Weak CZ Tornadoes today - Good luck

Just to add on from yesterday, the funnel cloud I captured in South Bristol ~ 4pm has been confirmed as a "shear funnel cloud". So not your typical funnel from a thunderstorm base!

Thing is As beautiful as these are (good pics ) we got a lot of this yesterday and when they ripen they will be at least 30/40 miles NW of you where someone else will enjoy the fruits of the labours of your airmass.

that is, if they overcome the cap

Yeah it's dull to the east with a moderate shower having developed. Still a lot of low cloud obscuring the more interesting stuff behind it.

the met office's website reckons thunderstorms 14:00 15:00 here, definitely wasn't there earlier but im not sure their website tends to be accurate when claiming storms, bbc weather is definitely worse in that regard though.

Do detectors struggle with Intracloud lightning? Impressive returns, but little sferics

Screenshot_20200614-133635_Netweather Radar Extra.jpg

No idea, but the llightning today app was useless yesterday, it seemed to be registering less than 20% of the actual strikes, based om matching rumbles heard, to strikes registered in my local area. I've never found it so inaccurate in the past.

Yep. I saw loads of these cloudscapes yesterday, but sadly the action was 15/20 km away

Have come out south of Shrewsbury to see the storms approach.  Now top of a hill in TORRENTIAL rain. Not lightening or thunder though. But it’s a big rain producer.

Seen this a couple of times where it’s been a precursor to storms in the area. Also seen it and there haven’t been storms lol

Got my fingers crossed for those storms over Tamworth, mainly the smaller one on it's East side.  The main one should just skirt past me to my SW (and hit Crewe), but the smaller one (as long as it keeps going) should be a direct hit (hopefully it'll intensify).

Nearing Southend on sea

Zip all chance to almost zero of anything happening down here Xander today and probably tomorrow bar a few light showers tomorrow.

If you wanna see where the storms are firing then look at the link I just posted - You can clearly see the line of converging winds from the south and east over the midlands and this is where the deeper convection is taking place. Hover over the blue arrows and you can see in the SE we have 10-11c dewpoints and in the NW Midlands they have 14-15c and its easy to see where the moisture is

Moved east to be in front of new more electrified storms coming up from much Wenlock. Stopped and can hear the thunder 10 miles away. Going to head towards Telford a bit more and as it looks mean!
