Looks like these first storms are moving away from me now. Some more cells popping up away from it now possibly heading for me

Small cell now on petersfield if it can extend more east we would be in the firing line

Looks a good bet - IF it can not die out. Doesn't even have to be a direct hit for me, just within 5 miles please

Mass of heavy rain moving over London now and what looks like more heavy rain/thick cloud moving into the SE from France..

Hope this doesn't spoil the chance for more storms today.

Don't know if this another funnel cloud, but noted rotation on timelapse as a small but heavy thunderstorm came in. I can't believe my luck!

Yeah looks like another shear funnel. I captured my first funnel a few days back and was a shear funnel. Typically spawn higher up in the atmosphere from general cumulus clouds! Quite rare & good find

Cloud breaking here now with humidity rising, however the CS England storm shield remains in full force.

And only 20 miles away. Storm luck this year has been atrocious.

Thank you! I'm so lucky to see 2 so close together let alone 1.

Meanwhile.. Here in West Yorkshire I'm still sat under the North sea cloud again. Broke by around 3pm yesterday so hoping a bit quicker today since conditions are more conducive.

All feeling a bit meh here today, some light rain just skirting to the East of here, favoured areas look to be Northwest of here again

Storm over bicester seems to have some curvature on it, possible supercell structure forming?

What is it about Central S England! Nothing in that gap but firing everywhere else...

Shouldnt complain - sat in warm sunshine at the moment.

The only positive I can see is ragged mid-level crap appears to be diminishing and the clouds are getting a bit of height to them.

Yeah, I keep seeing turkey towers go up and I get optimistic but then they collapse almost as quickly.

Would be interesting to know why it's really poor for storms. As everything is moving in a westerly direction,  and there ain't nothing firing across CS, I suspect it will be a quiet day.  Nut as you say, at least the sun is trying to come out.

Just looking at the radar and movement over the last two hours and there are a few things of note.

The first is that Birmingham is probably going to get hammered for hours given the movement today and a more n-s orientation to convection.

The second is that the lower half of the M1 is probably going to be chock a block with potential flooding if the current convergence sticks around.

Precipitation is building to the east much better today. Nottingham, Sheffield and potentially Leeds have a much better chance today of showers more often (granted the lower 2 had beauties yesterday).

Bit frustrating... it’s one of the best wind directions for this area, and why May is often one of if not the best month for storms.

Still plenty of time.

Hazy sunshine here. Looking really good for later if things keep going the way they are.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the showers/storms seem to be moving a bit quicker today? They were very slow moving yesterday.

I'm going to be positive, for once, and say the latest AROME run looks good, well, REALLY good, for at least my part of CS England:

Tonight and tomorrow, times top right
