Amazing difference a couple hundred miles makes it’s like a different country, you have rivers as roads while down here we have occasional dust blowing in the wind!

Funnel or scud?

Also how the energy transfers within storms is remarkable.

Scud - very strong inflow to that storm with the scud rotating but no proper defined funnel that we could see here.

Thundery-looking skies rapidly developing over N London. Lot's of scud.

Quite surprised as it's been overcast all day.

Started off near Matlock, first cell that formed dropped a massive CG right over my head, instant crack of thunder afterwards.

London cells at least give a bit of hope that all is not lost for tonight, still rooting for the 6z Arome to come good

Headed up Via Gelia road thinking Buxton would be a good target but turned back towards Bakewell after checking the radar, saw a few CGs ahead and managed to park up near Fox house and watch the storm approach.

Finished up on Stanage where the cloud rolled in pretty fast. My chase vehicle perhaps isnt best suited to these conditions!

Agreed - was literally 20 mins or so ago I was confiding that I thought it was curtains. Now watching lightning flashes and listening to gorgeous rumbles as this cell moves away. Fingers crossed more follow in its place

Not sure. It’s so black but nothing seen or heard. It’s weird lol

Worst of the rain is down Chirk and Llangollen way looks like it's missed us. Plus it seems to be weakening anyway. Not that we should be complaining we've done better this week than we would usually do in like 5 years :oldrofl:

Appears to have run out of electrical juice. Saw some distant flashes and heard some rumbles. So since Saturday I’ve been on the periphery of 4 cells and yet I do not feel I have been sated. Greedy? Or righteously frustrated?

I’ll keep watch for another half hour and see if any other cells pop up. Bit of excitement for the evening

I went chasing again today but in the end I probably didn't need to, the flooding on the A365 was terrible nearly didn't make it back home in time but the storm was still just about going as I got back!
