I didn't see anything remotely funnel-like, but the core of that storm definitely had a lot of dynamically swirling scud on it's base as it approached over the JQ.

Few spots & distant rumbling here now (north Wolves), but won't have the severity of last nights storm.

Currently watching the Brummie storms on the radar and am preying to all the Weather Gods known to Mankind that it doesn't die before it gets to me ⛈️

Yep if you live on or near the coast its pretty much not even worth looking at these risks. The storms are driven by sea breeze or convergence zones inland caused by the sea breezes and you wont get storms.

Merseyside the other day dried em up, Sheffield and parts of Yorkshire had that North Easterly the other day, easterlies down the estuary and suffolk coast same thing, west wales today everything that has gone near the coast has died.

Nothing you can do about it unless you head inland to watch a storm

Look at the latest radar at 1625 and none of the coasts in England have anything remotely close to a storm

Any optimism for the SE has evaporated for me for this evening and overnight. I’m just not simply seeing enough instability which presumably is driven by heating. The skies have been milky all day, especially following the storm cluster than moved through at lunchtime. Happy for someone to prove me wrong. Disappointing

Just been sent this picture from just north of Winchester. They said they’ve heard a few rumbles coming from it

Looking good. Potentially heading out in an hour or so if it holds together, somewhere onto the Cheshire Plains.

Radar nicely illustrating the uplift effect of the Peak District near Nottingham. Over the next few hours as the vorcity moves a bit further north thats the hope for South Yorkshire and potentially West Yorkshire.

If this is just the start of our storm season, then I cannot wait to see what the rest of it has to offer!

I hear loud Thunder, seems to be coming from the cell that just popped West of me,  Crewe might be in for something interesting shortly.

A good storm not as intense as yesterdays but I'm not complaining and the gardens had another good watering which is a bonus .

Make the most if it, I feel these type of weeks only happen every few Junes.

Such a shame we have the sea breeze off the Bristol Channel here in Cardiff, wouldve seen some lovely thunderstorms the past few days! Hoping today there is a bit more instability further up to hold the storms as they cross over..

Can anyone explain why the sea breeze is causing the thunderstorms to dissipate?

One of the lightning strikes, definitely hit the ground near me.

It reminds me of the time when i lived in Northamptonshire and was in a insane electrical storm, made the correct decision to sit in the car and just as we closed the doors, lightning struck a post about 3 meters from the car.
