It’s got to be down to the current situation especially with the lack of aircraft observation.s or something with less data being available. Incredible how on Sunday, less than 48 hours away, things were still looking amazing for the SE but then suddenly on Monday it all started to disappear and move further north and west like it has done. Next thing we know, the mini heatwave with 30C possible next week could suddenly change to a northerly outbreak or something

Indeed - wouldn’t be the first time. Usually this is caused by the SE being in the middle of a plume, with the northern, western and eastern edges most prone to storm development, possibly as a result of the boundary between moisture rich plume/non-plume air acting as a kind of dry line and helping trigger storms.

As @staplehurst forecast suggests, Benelux storms are expected to waft in from the west Wednesday night but not necessarily within instability rich air.

Still, I’ll take sitting comfort that being inside the slight risk zone tomorrow as a positive sign - models I’ve been looking at today certainly seem more inclined to break out activity here tomorrow than the past couple of days.

Big storm now. Torrential rain, frequent lightning and booming thunder.

House has been hit and set on fire in Sheffield could be that which caused it.

No it's not that bolt as the house was in Milhouses which is on the southern side. This was looking west towards Oughtibridge.

Really getting used to popping in here and seeing incredible pictures/videos - great spell of daily storms for many areas. (Or should that be same areas!? )

Started off promising up here early afternoon - but it just never got going overhead.

Roughly two hundred lightning strikes up here in Scotland today...compared to the thousands in England!

All the best everyone! Hopefully I’ll be joining in with the lightning pictures/videos soon!

Yeah it's no problem  There were quite a few cg bolts and the core went right through Sheffield so I'm not surprised a house got struck.

I have to say this is an amazing light show, but the thunder is very muted considering how close the strikes are to my position

As much as I've missed out, again, I've quite enjoyed everything that's been posted in this thread over the last few days. Oh and here's yet another tweet
