Positioned myself totally wrong and ended up playing catch-up with this storm across a flooded Sheffield and into the Peaks. Currently sat at Stanadge Edge watching it rumble away NW.

Did see a few nice CGs though!

Question now is can these big beasts to the South survive the journey up here!

Rain is incredibly intense now, thunder is rattling my windows, lightning is lighting up the sky completely this is absolutely brilliant!

I’m trying to stay positive but you’re right I think

Our only hope is a plume. I won’t scoff at an elevated lightning show but what I would give for some structure and surface based shenanigans.

Yeah I'm getting greedy! Got to pore through some video footage now as I caught loads of cg's.

Some chronological pics of the Brum storm on my walk home. There was a definite roll/wall cloud that passed overhead, followed by the torrential rain that soaked me to the bone (and forced me to stop photographing the storm), constant grumbling thunder and lightning every 10 seconds or so.

Still rumbling away but rain has stopped. I don't think it was ever directly overhead but it's groaning away.

Currently at the highest point in Leicestershire watching this develop! Wish I knew how to add a picture!

Wow wish I was up there. But seriously, stay safe up there very exposed and that radio antenna is erm dodgy in these conditions lol

Have these two storms split up? And am I right in thinking ones going North and ones going West?

Sorry to break your optimism but I'm pretty sure most of the cells are heading NW at the moment.

Quite an interesting shape to the cell just south of Leicester on radar. Reminds me of the bow shape of the Manchester supercell last night.

Aye would make more sense, just for a moment it looked to have had a bit of a North track, but probs just the cells extending making it look more North

Decisions... Don't think it's worth chasing this across the Peaks, looks as if lightning has now died off, think I'll head back towards home for a good South facing vantage point.

Those storms over the Midlands look intense!!

This is roughly 5 miles to the north of my location, rapid thunder/lightning, still just a few spots, main storm MAY drift NW.

We've sending a good one towards Manchester may merge with some cells to the west of us as well. Didn't get going until it passed but some really good cloud to ground strikes from it.

Yup it's merged Manchester watch out.
