What's the best way to work out the direction of a cell? Using the radar and going through each frame works ok, just wondering if there's a different technique? There's two cells near me (Bishops Castle) and they seem to be going in ever so slightly different directions thanks in advance!

If you have Netweather Extra then you can turn on rain accumulation on the V8 radar and on the past 1 or past 3 hours then it gives you a good idea of where they are headed. Other then that and looking through each frame I'm not sure I know of any special technique!

Still hoping to see some storm action in Barnsley later. Just worried this cloud is going scupper our chances, seems to be taking a lifetime to clear.

Rinse repeat of yesterday. It was about this time and I’m in exactly the same spot and there’s good growth but they get to a point and can’t push any further.

At least it shows that there’s forcing at work, very early afternoon the cap should give way

It’s a pain. But as your say there is forcing there which bodes well to rest of the country, I would be happy with a short sharp shower  today, won’t push the boat out to far, I’m looking at Thursday at the moment as it looks like it could be a nice light show. There’s always a stronger cap over the city and Home Counties, whenever one is at play. It’s strange but hay ho, the cap didn’t break until late afternoon yesterday so maybe a few hours earlier and that coincides with diurnal surface heating we could have something. Never say never!

Strong sunshine now the early cloud has lifted. It's a very busy sky already though. Lots of cloud heading 'upwards'.

Skies clearing here and the sun is out. I've heard thunder for the past two days (both storms quite far away) so I'm hoping for a direct hit today. Currently 19C and feeling pretty humid.

A heavy shower near Nuneaton developing already. With one already formed out to the west in Shropshire, I think those of us in the Black Country and central Birmingham who had only distant lightning shows yesterday have our best chance yet today.

As ever, it depends where they trundle off to as the develop. We may end up as the breeding ground again...but it just seems like we'll be more in the game today.

Oh I like the big ones, you can see the patterns on their wings, just like butterflies really.

Definitely looks more promising round here today! I have noticed they are forming slightly further SE today and the models are showing that too, so could be an interesting day for us!

Afternoon all

Large cumulus going up all over the place here, in all directions, much larger compared to this time yesterday.

Does anybody know what temperature we need today?

Current temperature is 16C, dew point is 14C (highest for some time) and humidity is 88%.

I heard a deep rumble with the strike off Rame Head by the radar.

The atmosphere is very unstable compared to recent days and I'd expect more to be honest .

What direction are looking @jake44 and where in Kent are you? Have some pitiful looking showers near here, but lacking any look that they may become thundery in this neck of the woods.
