I have to say, I agree with Chris R assessment that coastal areas are likely to stay dry because of the sea breeze, shame really as the atmosphere seems  perfect for convective potential.

Who knows, once the sea breeze eases down this evening coastal areas may have a chance.

Something developing to the east of town giving over us.. might be something of interest towards Wrexham way. Sadly no chase for me today, my 3 year old car failed its first ever MOT today. Nightmare

Interesting comparing AROME 6z run with the current radar at this time; I'd say it's pretty much identical, so maybe that's going to end up being the best-performing model this week for the day-to-day details!

That run also develops cells just north of me (typical) in the middle of the night tonight, swinging them through West-Mids and Wales into the early morning.

Im down near Oldbury and 100% see what you mean, got some good time lapses that show that really well

Nice, tried to capture it with my cam too but couldn't really see it much,

still a good amount of time in the day though! I don't believe it was convective so early on yesterday as it was today

I agree, usually around now onwards for peak heating = max convection.

I think i can see what you mean from here in Walsall, looks dark towards your way with quite big towers going up.

Euro4 shows an area of intense precipitation sitting just to my north (Matlock/Chesterfield) from this evening into the first part of the night. Check out the 6 hour accumulation chart from 6pm to midnight courtesy of weatheronline.co.uk

Hey Supacell,is it Karl?

do you think those storms over the NW will back build to this location that you have put above or are there more storms to build from the SE of there?,genuine question.

or it could be that placement above is further west now currently?

In the time it took me to walk to the shop and back it has got extremely dark, can feel the humidity and warmth rising too! Hoping for something to kick off soon, certainly feels like it will!

So the net-wx data is promising. So 15z has a small cell or group of small cells starting in the area where there as few areas of precipitation at present and moving north west awards over the capital and into the midlands, rapidly growing and hopefully producing daughter cells the next 45-1 hour will tel. Sorry to all for distrusting the happy forum if

As expected, all lightning is not reaching this far west due to the seabreeze. Maybe it will be different later.

Yeah hopefully it fires up over the capital and not after it leaves to the Nw need a storm 1) I’ve had 1 strike and 1 rumble this year, and 2) it’s boiling !!

Can see the towers in the north west from here. Faint attempts of convection here.

Not much happening Wrexham way atm but it’s gloriously hot and very humid! Typical kind of clouds around atm too. I’ll be very surprised if we don’t get any action some point today.
