And now for the acid test (bath?)... The Dutch storms are reaching the coast. Will they survive over the North Sea? One formed out over the N Sea a couple of hours ago and made some progress NNW but fizzled out: it's remains are on the rainfall radar off the Humber at the mo. If the storms carry on making the same progress they have been from Luxembourg, then it's game on. If not, it's a good night's sleep....

I don't mean to state the obvious but surely this intense precipitation is just going to skirt by the UK? At least it looks this way so far.

Looks like a N Sea clinger to me as well. Rather it clear off tbh and leave us with clearer skies for good heating tomorrow.

I would say everyone take a well-deserved rest and prepare for a new installment tomorrow

Really can’t imagine anything more than very distant or isolated sferics at this stage

looks like you can't see the heaviest on netweather radar yet only the rain just starting to come into view. The red scribble is roughly where lightning is so thats probs where the red/ white colours on radar will be like when comes into view. so should see full picture inlike an hour. Perhaps it will turn weswards more, clips lincolnshire but then makes landfall somewhere around Hull maybe.

It’ll be thundery rain at best by then, don’t think the intensity will last so far over the water

Been watching it for a while, the sound of the rain hitting the roof is sending me to sleep xD it's like one of those relaxing nature videos, with the odd train thrown in

Lightning strikes showing up to 30 miles off the Dutch coast now... Will it last or fizzle out, that's the question...

Hoping to be out in the NW of England tomorrow based on the last forecast which I saw this morning. See what I can get. Best I can do as I can't be out with Netweather this year.

What are all of your thoughts for England's risk tomorrow? Personally cheshire north west midlands etc doesn't look as good. I reckon more to the south west of london, cambridge b'ham etc where could be some more beefy thundery action and south wales/ Devon looking the best.

Forecasting thunderstorms and severe convective weather across the British Isles and Ireland for up to the next 5 days.

Ok now this isn't epic

But it's finally looking a bit more promising for me in north west Wales. Fingers crossed - thunderstorms are quite rare up here!

Anyone see the lightning in the North Sea? Wonder if it will survive and make landfall

I built my own gazebo a couple of weeks ago, and waterproofed it. I thought I'd come and sit under it with a beer and a smoke in the rain.
