torrential shower developed around Southampton  Looks like it wants to be trouble

That would explain why it’s suddenly gone dark to the NE.

For anyone worried about surface heating first signs of the sun breaking through the could here.

Cell developed out of nowhere near the IOW

Fast development. Looks to be forming along a convergence line so expect more.

What’s the likelihood of Belgium breeding storms that migrate across the channel into Kent this afternoon?

Very small likelyhood as storms over there will be surface based and once they get into that cess pit of water will rapidly die. Might get to see some lightning 25 miles away and hear some booms if you go down to Lydd or Dungeness but most will drift into the Channel and die on their a rses

Yeah, the Arome model shows that happening, with none of them making it over.

What is showing though on most of the global models is an interesting scenario from 23z tomorrow evening into Sat morning early hour moving into East Anglia from the low countries (Obvs Missing the Cone of Silence to my north) with a quite strong signal for an MCS to move WNW across into the Midlands.

One to watch for you guys further north and north west of the SE Corner.

Also a decent signal for another chance of storms tomorrow around lunchtime for South Coast arcing over towards Central Southern England the SW and South Wales again missing the cone of silence.

Some people are going to do quite well and see some storms clearly

That's the edge of the cell passing just to my North.

You can see it better than I could as there was too much cloud at the time it passed here. Its cleared a bit now and as you said earlier it feels humid too

Went into Sainsburys in Portsmouth about 30 mins ago and was sunny with clouds bubbling up. Just come out, the ground is drenched and looking east towards the heavier stuff on its way just north of Chichester.

Holy Guacamole!

If it stays like this, Tomorrow night could be really quite impressive. There’s a fair bit of cross agreement now on this by other High res models too. Tomorrow day even looks like it could be pretty decent.

Good luck to everyone.

Not often you get decent DLS of 20-30m/s out of the SE either!

WTF??!???!? Absolutely massive towers shooting up to my north-east. 3 of them had a pileus on top at the same time.

Yep one of them I'm looking at right now- you can just make out the pileus in my photo.

Towers going up all around now. I have to drive down to Hitchin now so with a bit of luck might see something stormy en route!

Radar has livened up however looking a bit messy, not much Sferic activity currently. Will be interesting to see what happens with the convection just coming into Southampton, east Dorset has been warming for a good hour or so now and should be much more favourable for further developments.
