I can't believe how heavy that rain is down in the South West, whilst here in W Oxfordshire I have had to water the garden once again as the ground remains rock hard. Barely any rain and not a rumble heard all year. I think there is a corridor from Oxford stretching West to take in Glos and Wilts that has seen nothing majorly connective for a good couple of years. Hence, I can't get excited about any potential for the weekend as it will all undoubtedly be North & East of me.

Bah!

Yep. Even last July's storm managed to avoid us. Nearly 2 years since we've seen anything here

Last night the met office had us down for a bit of action, though have since downgraded.  Still, we live in hope

Ahem

Dont forget the Cone Of Silence (Otherwise Known as SE Essex) which has dodged every set up since last summer and not registered a single CG Strike

Thats because you live there with you uber storm shield!

I slept through it and was so annoyed to wake up and look at the lightning map from the previous night.

We have our first line of development of the day, stretching from London into Kent. For once, it's on target to hit my area around early lunchtime!

Edit: sferics now coming from it over the Croydon area

And.............Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Another miss for the Cone of Silence

You will fail to find a place in the SE worse than this for a Storm. And looking at all the models for the next 5 days I am pretty confident most of the risks will be North, South and West of us here

Ah well enjoy everyone

Had a big rumble of thunder from a line of heavy rain that just cleared through here near Croydon, developed from nothing pretty quickly on radar.

Nice to be under the first storm of the day as it developed.

A gap that also covers Reigate - noteable for its complete absence of any electrical activity. Short of putting a plug in and switching on the kettle.      Perhaps my luck will change today?  Even this morning's "storm" is missing us. Gah!

Infill is, well infilling the clear slot being advected over from channel & northern France. Could really do with some insolation to get temps up another couple of degrees, 16-18C isn't really enough.

What’s the likelihood of Belgium breeding storms that migrate across the channel into Kent this afternoon?

Looks like it could happen, There's already a cell trying to get going near Calais, drifting in the direction of Kent.

That's a pokey little cell that's just come out of nothing down in the New Forest
