its a weird one tonight, doubt there will be any thunder.

Do high level converging winds do the opposite to a CZ? Do they actually push the air downwards instead?

Lightning on the radio and instantaneously reporting on Weather Flow station. 24 km apparently.

I see about an hour ago there were sferics off the N. Wales coast, thickening darker skies to my west too, I'll put my radio on, see if I'm picking up any sferics.

I know that upper air divergence is a good thing as all the air rises in it's place so I guess that maybe it's not exactly what you want for storms but I don't really now

You couldn’t buy a storm in CS England.

Ahem

Dont forget the Cone Of Silence (Otherwise Known as SE Essex) which has dodged every set up since last summer and not registered a single CG Strike

Yep! This is why I'm pessimistic about the coming days. Saturday could be fun for some, but it looks like you'd need to be 100 miles north of us!

Jeeez yeah that’s bad - I must say last July we had that incredible storm, but since then I’ve seen a couple IC flashes in the dark in December and that is literally it.

And the circle of inactivity here which has great views of the tops of cumulonimbi (is that a word??) just passing by on all sides for each convective set up since last summer!

I'm sure Saturday will deliver the goods

Same down here. Usually see the clouds to the north while there's clear sky overhead here. Happens most of the time we get normal showery weather too not just when thunderstorms are possible.

I can't believe how heavy that rain is down in the South West, whilst here in W Oxfordshire I have had to water the garden once again as the ground remains rock hard. Barely any rain and not a rumble heard all year. I think there is a corridor from Oxford stretching West to take in Glos and Wilts that has seen nothing majorly connective for a good couple of years. Hence, I can't get excited about any potential for the weekend as it will all undoubtedly be North & East of me.

Bah!

I watch storms build after they pass me and hit the Chilterns.  Then High Wyvombe cops the lot

Bah!

Plenty here in West Wilts last year. Especially on the 24th and 25th July which was the best storm here for years (included most of England)

Had a good start to the year for thunder at least this area but the very dry spring and now approaching mid June, it has reverted to type of the last 10 years.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
