Cracking storm just on outskirts of Rushden, near constant rumbling! Very out of the blue.

A lot of showers pepping up and becoming electrical from a line from Spalding to Leicester, looking at the rainfall radar I would say a fair more could be come more organised and bigger.

It was just a heavy shower as it went over Wellingborough, I live looking over the fields towards Wollaston up high. Just as it left Wellingborough it got very electrical, and scooted across Wollaston, poddington, then along A6 towards Bedford. Now looking at new showers pepping up over Kettering way.

You can't be telling me it's better than those storms in Florida!?

Wow. What did I just witness.

Just as I thought a heavy shower was passing over me, it started to electrify. Then all hell broke loose, close lightning strikes came down from nowhere, torrential rain falling, and hail.

I haven't seen anything like that since Florida.

Well done Bedford. You have done me VERY proud today.

Fantastic cloudscapes today!! Now hearing some frequent thunder. Seen a few I-C bolts! Not bad.

Some heavy showers here and there, nothing electrified though. The wait for the first barely audible rumble of thunder in 2020 goes on...

OOps that's me out of the NSC for 2020

Wind just East of North now but still spits and spots (crapvection). Maybe some insolation later, but not looking great today up here.

A5 between Miltin Keynes and Weedon is Brill.

Absolute bullet thunder, 1/4 second after strike...was a bit close.

That was a fantastic article, enjoyed reading it. Growing up in west London in the 80’s (I was born in 1973), I remember quite a few mega (usually nighttime) storm systems. Very rare, nowadays, so sad.

Please can I ask what article you’re referring to? Apologies but I seem to have missed something interesting.
