You'll like this one.... Some kids were camping over in the Downton meadows last night. Packing up in the rain this morning, we watched them bag their rubbish up, then chuck it in the trees. I shouted

My poor attempt at taking photos of lightning with the phone!

Just missed out in frome again , but took a short a short stroll  to a good vantage point and caught  funnel cloud

Fantastic morning temps currently 17C-19C across the bay. Overnight lows 12C-14C. Yesterday was a great day too but it had the worst plane haze I've seen for a long time. Lots of it out at sea and even worse inland. Fortunately the bay stayed between the two until late afternoon when the inland haze moved in. It was still warm though however it was very windy in exposed parts.

First picture Torquay inner harbour right now. Second picture yesterdays plane haze.

Bouncing along around the 23/24C region for a while, with a peak of 24.1°C at: 14:29..

The beach looks like and idyllic August day, blue skies, smooth sea, and the aroma of suntan lotion wafting inland..

I'm not sure what causes the MO forecast to be so out (even an hour beforehand).. I notice this with minima a lot, we're forecast 19°C at 11pm but it's already dipped below 18°C, and they expect a low of 17°C all night.

Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.
