Getting heavy rain here now at last and the frequency of thunder/lightning going up.

Yeah - strange about the spherics (or lack of)

Nope

So refreshing and cooling.  Much better than a stifling hot house.

Moderate rain falling; no thunder here but a few sheet lightning episodes in last 10 mins. A bit like watching a heavily promoted new tv drama series, but it is already episode 3, and it is yet to really grasp your attention.

Not sure why strikes aren't returning on the radar?

Roughly seeing 2/3 c/c strikes per minute here but nothing showing on radar?

Radar does show heavy rain over me but it's dry though.

Snap, watching lightning from what I assume is the cell over Exmoor, nothing showing on Blitz despite the regular flashing.

edit: https://www.lightningmaps.org/# seem to be showing these ones (though they do quickly fade away on their map rather than staying which is strange)

Grass got a good soaking. A couple of nice bangers in the last couple of minutes but, yeah, where's the crazy cliff-hanger, BB?

Edit: Happy to have got that, to be honest, after things turned quiet for a while.

I see estofex have issued most of us a level 2 warning. Model data suggests storms will be away from the coast..

Dropped to 20.1°C but now back up to 20.6°C.

Noticed something heavier out in the channel heading in this direction which might be of interest.

Pretty remarkable how quickly those storms developed last night. From nothing at 21.50 to torrential by 22.10 . Pleased to have seen some lightning to my E, NE and N.

Pimply rain this morning and very humid, the temperature will shoot up again if the sky clears.

20.2c minimum, must check those records today!

Good storm last night, as usual,  just on the edge. When there was a chance of storms passing over head, it was just heavy rain in the end.

Weston seems to always avoid overhead storms.... strange.

And so it continues, no storm, no rain, heading towards mid month with 1.4mm of rainfall in total this month so far, things are really dry here...

Anyway a quick spin of the met data shows an overnight low of 17.7°C at: 06:02, currently 20.0°C and RH89 %, Humidex 26.1°C currently partly cloudy..with the sea temperature having added another couple of notches, it's 19.3 °C...

The beach this morning looks tranquil with a couple of overnight campers

Cloudy and dull again. Was hoping for some sunshine today to spice things up for later.

Another warm night though, no lower than 19.5C.

So close to a tropical night here; overnight low 19.7°C!

Still, that's a new record highest for daily records going back to 1973. Like with the maximums, a rural environment and to some extent proximity to the Channel (about 17 miles away) tends to prevent absurdly warm nights.

Largely cloudy so far today, yet 22°C and slowly edging upward.

A sharp clearance from the southeast looks to be imminent. Temperatures have already jumped up in response to this over Portsmouth way - 24°C there as of 9 am.

Seems a high 20s maximum is achievable unless there's rapid convective development beforehand. Given that convective discussions cite 28-29°C as the requirement to break the capping inversion, that would be a surprise, but you can never be too sure with convection!

Yes Andy , I couldn't believe the speed too.  Saw good sheet lightning about. So warm pleasant to sit out in just T-shirt .  Red warning storms looked overdone .

It got down to 17.8°C here.

25.2°C at the moment. Need that sunshine asap!

That decayed MCS was always going to leave it's dregs behind.

Another warm night, but cooler than recent, with a low of 18.6°C

Currently 26.1°C, and steady. Some cloud has moved up from the channel in the past hour, making it feel very oppressive. Dew Point sat at 20.4°C with RH at 65%. Wind E at 3mph.

Never a fan of MCS's. They just create a mess and hinder future developments.

Need this cloud to disappear sharpish and allow for a few hours of sun between 12 and 4. Just cloudy with spots of rain here today.
