Really felt the teeth of the heatwave here in Poole today, relatively speaking, max 32.4 C. A glorious evening with what felt like perpetual heat, makes me come alive. My temperature readings have become irregular to say the least in the last 27 years, but I think today was up there for highest max reading in a while, at least since 2015?

Liked the look of the Alto cumulus bubbling across the channel in a line this evening.  Its more than 50% a good sign in my experience if you want thunderstorms, but maybe not just yet. I could do with the tension building a little bit longer and enjoy this continental heat. The heat is a greater anomaly than storms, here on the South Coast.

Max 29.8c here on the Davis (or 28.9c on a thermometer in the shade) yesterday. Down to 14.1C overnight.

Seems clear on the models that the 30C line, and potential 32/33C at times, will be around west Dorset again, and perhaps there until Wednesday! Somewhat frustrating...

Although I noticed yesterday the AROME had significantly lower maxima than ECM for us today
The extent of the low cloud over much of the country this morning certainly reflects the AROME and not the ECM..

Today:
Sunday will see plenty of sunshine, which may turn hazy at times. Staying mostly dry and very warm, especially in the east where it will become quite hot. Winds staying light for most areas. Maximum temperature 33 °C. But the  weather forecast got that bit wrong as it cloudy outside

Mornin All, so lets go, after an overnight low of 16.2°C at: 06:06, currently pretty similar to @Mapantz reading here it's 21.9°C, the satellite image shows the cloud set to burn off further north...meanwhile RH73 %, Humidex 28.0°C

No surprise given the sea temperature is currently 18.6 °C, which is 0.7°C higher than the average for this time of year...

Another unusual day ahead. Not only does the low cloud burn back to the North Sea coasts, the wind veers from northeasterly in the morning to east-northeasterly in the afternoon. Maybe even easterly within 10 miles or so of the south coast.

This arcs in an area of hotter air, beneath the 850 hPa level hence not visible on those charts, while also setting up a flow from the major urbanisations of the SE across Hampshire & toward Dorset.

This is where the high model predictions for max temp come from. If they’re right, the temp rise should accelerate a lot during the next few hours, even more than usual for sunny weather.

This afternoon, convective potential may lead to some local letdowns - something to be prepared for the possibility of. Models aren’t going to reliably portray those with much accuracy even at 6 hours range.

Observation-wise, it’s a stunning morning here now - pleasantly warm with the breeze feeling fantastic after the warm night indoors.

Starting to a swing from WNW to NE now..
