Just very light rain here, as soon as it hits the ground it’s gone

It’s just dipped below 30°C. Still feeling very warm despite the cloudy skies, and little breeze

Rain almost here on the radar but as indicated previously, doubt it’ll reach the ground

The air really isn't all that warm now, only 25.9C here and only the residual warmth from tarmac in my drive keeping my feet warm....

I feel triggered by only managing 29.9°C.

I don't like rounding of temps, so I must accept this.

Interesting switch of wind just to the west of here in the station obs.

Perhaps some sort of response to the differential in surface heating occurring as result of the cloud cover moving over (upper trough, so no direct surface wind effect).

Bournemouth side has a sea breeze now, hence much cooler without the sun to combat it.

Judging by radar and satellite sequences, the main cloud should clear from the south coast about 1 to 1.5 hours from now. Could be a really pleasant evening there if the temp doesn't fall much further beforehand.

Interesting, despite being under 'radar rain' for nearly an hour now nothing is reaching the ground yet the Petrichor smell is now out in abundance.

Complete cloud cover here now and the temperature is dropping, down to 27.2°C, down 3°C in an hour.

Winds have also switched from WNW to SSE in the past hour, cooling things down slightly.

Solar radiation at 74 Wm⁻² here. That shows how dull and dark it has become.

Will depend on how much reaches the surface - as it's from high-based cloud I expect there to be a lot of evaporation on the way down.

They're leaving...

The odd spot of rain now although clearly most of it isn’t reaching the ground. 22.4°C

At least whoever’s still attempting to drive down there will have a bit more breathing space.

27.8°C now, no rain despite the radar saying so

Lol better be. I’m still in the garden, albeit warm it’s a bit depressing!

Yep, other half is outside. 90 mins left and I'll be joining her for 9 days.

Might try the new look Goat next week, for lunch.

We have yet to go since it changed from the White Horse. Neighbours went there on Monday, said it was quite nice, nothing special but at least they got their 50% discount... we are off to Eastbourne on Wednesday.

Nice, have fun.

We'll have some days out, but any beach trips will be very early doors. Will keep you posted re: The Goat.

Seems the met office radar on the app is backing up what most here are reporting in that the rain isn't reaching the ground

Completely overcast for the last three hours, maxed out at 31°C shortly before that.  Now 25.8°C and a hint of brightness.  Absolutely no ppn had reached the ground here in spite of what the radar is showing.

Well the sun came out for a bit, and the temp reached a very warm and humid 27.3C. Then elevated showers moved in and produced a nice rumble of thunder  (part of it nearly overhead but probably a few miles up), followed by a brief moderate shower that made the ground damp.

Radar showed heavier cells towards Exeter but only moderate here so the intensity was similar to what the radar suggested here.

Temp now 23.1C, dew point 20.2C (though Davis sensors often over-read humidity/dew point slightly).
