High cloud just N of Tavistock and I think I am hearing thunder.

The ATD lightning detector has picked up a few strikes over Dartmoor, so it might have been thunder just to your east.

Should we tell this lot to turn around? There's a load of cloud coming in.

They are going to be gutted, spend hours in a traffic jam baking in the car only to get to your cloudy and showery destination.

They must be nuts. Not sure how the thought process goes...

"Bournemouth is going to be an absolute nightmare today"

"So what shall we do?"

"Let's go to Bournemouth!"

I know but the problem is on one hand you have the government barring people from going aboard (to places that are mostly safer than here) then on the other hand encouraging them to eat out here and go on staycations.....its just asking for trouble.

Interesting day so far, misty at 6am when I started work, could see once it cleared there were quite a few very large/high Cu type clouds to the West, these have slowly grown into sheets and are passing overhead now, could see rainfall from several areas of this cloud mass. Certainly not a stable airmass currently.

No chance, look at the satellite, might get a glimpse but anything more than a 5-10min spell looks unlikely.

That's what I'm looking at, but the French end. I reckon (hope) it'll clear through. Although I have got some sawing to do after work, so a bit of cloud might be welcome.

Any ideas if that rain heading to Bristol is evaporating before it hits the ground? I'm at work and I've left all my sky lights open at home...

I absolutely hate it when it clouds over on hot days. What makes it worse is that no thunderstorms are likely, so it is just a waste. I don't think a new record is on for me tomorrow, now. Models have backed away from that idea, coupled with cloud, even less likely.

I'm supposedly under it, and can confirm dark sky above, but no rain yet. I think most of it is indeed evaporating.

Absolutely agree with everything, I'm actually genuinely annoyed with the situation.

Actually I've counted about ten drops on the patio, but I don't think it'll have much effect.
