Just bog standard rain falling here now.  Lightning strikes around the region seem to be fading now, including in that cell over Wiltshire way.

Nothing overhead here unfortunately, enough rain to wet the ground but that was about it. Quite comical looking on the radar to see how the cells always missed us and two of them actually grouped together over the northern side of the town by Kingston St Mary sort of area. Thunder heard and lightning seen however.

Almost a carbon copy of yesterday evening just an hour earlier! Developing quickly off the edge of Salisbury Plain, this time a smaller cell a bit further down the A36.

It’s picking up over Wiltshire!

It's moving down the A303 again now.

We thought we'd lost sight of it, but it's come closer...

There is some mental scud and possibly a funnel or 2 trying to form, being dragged into the storm from the North side!

Offerman or Fromey might be able to see similar from the other side?

I am watching it now, it’s being dragged in at a rate of knots! Possibly could form a weak funnel.!!

The storm tried it best, but the West Country killed it in the end.

3 stunning CC flashes to the West in the last 5 minutes. The energy seems to have transferred into the middle now heading towards Frome after being focused towards Westbury and also just South of Warminster previously.

It wasn’t  bad, a few good flashes and rumbles, now just heavy rain, seems to have died

Took a more direct hit from thunderstorms today, with the first cell passing just north of here between 4.30 and 5, quickly followed by another one from 5.30-6.30 which kinda merged with the first one and decayed into a general area of rain. Some quite interesting rainfall total variations though - myself recording 13.5mm and 3 miles northeast recording 27mm!

Fingers crossed for another round tomorrow.

Hi Andy,

i thought exactly the same as you about the daughter cell and what a carbon copy of what happened yesterday when it looked like it was going to miss us!

I saw the three CG strikes too that you and Fromey mentioned. Heres one of them and ill look on my other camera later and see if it did catch  any too.

These two were toward cley hill warminster way.

Seems the overnight rain as come a lot further south than previously forecast, covering much of the region away from coastal areas.  This will quite possibly  inhibit convection for those of us further north, but may put the storm starved coastal areas of Dorset & Hampshire at a higher risk than previously forecast.

Cloudy morning.
17c and dry.

Still no rain here since last Friday. Some forecasts have us down for some light rain through the day.
Liking the mid 20s sunny forecasts for middle of next week.
