Lol its a crappy Canon EOS 400d from 2010 that has done 132.900 clicks - I really need to get a new camera soon.

F5.6 800 ISO and 7 Seconds

I don't know much about camera's and i wished that i went for a DSLR now with the extra lens instead of this crappy sony,it is good through the day time but s**t at night,i am looking at investing on something better i think, photography is my next to none.

I have just been outside and i see nothing, maybe later they return?

Theoretically we should be seeing what most of Europe are seeing in our 2nd half...ie towards dawn

I`m definately stopping up

Just been out on my first ever shoot of these as I saw them from the bedroom window just before 11, so asked the gf if she minded me heading out instead of to sleep!

Drove 10 mins to a pitch black country road with a usable view to the north that I marked for possible lightning photos. Boy it was worth it! Very fun to shoot them, and lots of pics to process in the morning!

Mission aborted - had to hang out the window instead.

Very annoying as there is a wee beach at the bottom of my street which is in total darkness - would have got some good pictures! (Rather than bright lamp post lights reflecting off my window!)

I usually head out around 130am and Set Up and they start cranking down here around 145am until 315am but it seems to be earlier further north

I`ll be checking from 2am ....In theory the NLC`s migrate around to the West approx 16° longitude over the night

( or 4 mins on a clockface)

This one was shot at 1120pm as it started to recede back.

With regards the settings I just play around from 200 to 1600 ISO and F3.5 to F6.0 and adjust the times from around 2 seconds upto 20 seconds but the 20 second ones are a bit grainy

And now it's disappating. I really need to remember to bring my small tripod home, and try and do a time lapse.
