The sky is now going very dark towards my south... And some impressive convective cloudscapes over towards the Chester area again.

You can’t just go from low to moderate lol. Where’s the slight?

Well if you really want me to change it then I will - I think the reason I transitioned from a low to a moderate was because I wanted to be different from every other storm forecaster

Lots of activity over northern France. Shame none of it’s heading this way.

Been cloud-watching most of the day and there's just too much of a cap over the NW for now, plenty of CU around that's developed into 'groups' but they simply fizzle out despite the lifting being there. Hopefully as the sun gets lower down and temps cool off soon there'll be something that punches through the drier mid-layer air.

says that now, but looks like initiation over the Goyt, got a large CU now erupting down the valley from here with returns on the radar.

Indeed. Just shows that our thunderstorms are nothing compared to France!

Two supercells have been confirmed over there today.

Lightning showing on Lightningmaps just to the SW of Shrewsbury, heading and towards there and then onto Stoke on Trent (if it doesn't die off before it gets here )

Beginning to cool now, garden thermometer peaked at 24° earlier today, now reading 20°.  My radio is picking alot more sferic activity up than shown on the radar map and blitzortung.  Still have lots of cumulus growing in height, very impressive, but without any action, the cap in situ must be a devil to break through.  Watching the Chester cell closely, where is all this lightning? My radio sounds like it's on steroids.

I've counted 24 rumbles near me so far ?‍♂️ The cell that developed above me has starting to move North Eastwards

Does anyone know how far East these showers will make it or whether they’ll just die out as the evening progresses?

expect them to die out to be honest , there pace isn't exactly setting the world on fire

Storm has come across Shrewsbury and is very slow moving. Flashing and crashing all about as it absolutely chucks it down!!

Clouds moving in all directions.
