Looking at the cloud satellite animation, cloud has rapidly developed within the last hour across Wales, Central and Northern areas.

The sun is almost covered by the amount of cloud there is here now.

poss towers going up north of cardiff

Just looking South from Blackwood, there are towers, but they are very small,
to My North, towards the heads of the valleys there is a more significant tower with a base, but it's still relatively small

Looks like the cells aren't moving? Is this due to convergence?

Yes partially, there is also orographic forcing in mountainous regions to also consider.

latest netweather radar image really showing the severity of the West Swansea Downpour,
I wonder what it feels like to be under blue sky.. and see a storm develop over your head

how much more can these showers intensify without a strike ?

Radio picking up sferics, quite frequent suddenly, getting intense too.

Warmest day of the year here a little surprisingly despite the wind from the sea. Cumulus is building a bit and lightning 30 km to the south-west but I think very unlikely anything will happen here.

More strikes, confirmed on radio. My Weatherflow smart pws is registering them as well which is cool.

Don't you have the Formby, Heswall shield, if I remember rightly.
