It certainly has 'that look' today even if nothing happens here. Cumulus and acca all around. Good to be back to this time of the year.

Not surprised, I posted 2hrs ago that I could see a convergence occurring right overhead. Here is triggered some cumulus development but nothing popped. That Convergence zone has shifted a little north-east and triggered the cell near Godalming and now Cranleigh.

The top of the cell over Horncastle some 78 miles away just about visible from here in the Peak District, a bit of exposure filtering brings out some structure detail.

There’s a possibility over the central counties still to play for over the next 4 hours slowly decaying as the evening wears on, but looks like there was a stubborn cap in place. Does mean we’ve built up quite a lot of energy beneath it, feels very warm and close. Wonderful afternoon weather

At least if it doesn’t go pop tonight the cap will keep the energy in place for some fun tomorrow
