Mid level instability moving over beneath the higher frontal cloud. Slight promise for you lot further East as it’s quite a long albeit narrow line of cloud.

Tonight most definitely wouldn’t qualify as a bust - there’s been no strong signal at all for anything but a low risk to be honest - some develop nothing, some develop storms off the coast of east anglia, some over eastern EA while one develops storms around SE London Ne’wards. There is however model agreement that any developments will be between 01:00 and 02:00.

Sooo... any risk for me in Broadstairs?  ^-^ also I might make an island close to France to get storms

Not that it means very much but you have more chance than me. Any storms that develop seem most likely to be along the Essex/Suffolk/E Norfolk coasts, so a very short extension south and you’d be good. For me, about 50 miles further west it’s very reliant on AROME model being on the money...and even then I’m pretty much on the western edge.

A voice of reason amongst the fevered hypothesising going on in this thread this evening, bravo!

I do like evening like this when it’s an unannounced possibility - but this is best enjoyed with a MASSIVE MINE of salt, and nobody is allowed to complain when the majority of forecasts get it right tomorrow and NOTHING HAPPENS!!!!!

Interesting cloudscapes tonight anyway

Nothing on the radar near where that's showing so must be false

Hopes a dangerous thing when it comes to the weather in this country.

On a more serious note the latest UKV pushes it further east so that what's left of it is now hugging the coastline

I wouldn't focus too much on models for now. They seem to chop and change quite a bit and often lead to disappointment. I'd just watch the rain radar and/or skies.
